Carolina matches that all day long..... my guess a team would have to overpay to the tune of $12 Million a year in order for the Canes to not match.

Lots of reports saying money is tight in Carolina following a $70M deal Dundon just went through recently. If that deal is front-loaded with heavy signing bonuses (think north of $10M in each of the first two years), Carolina may not match. If need be though, I wouldn't be against Montreal increasing it to 10.5M

Dundon just lost $250M through AAF. He also just had another deal that took away $70M of his cash. Now add his recent purchase of the Canes. I'd say that yes, cash is tight. And that playing potentially up to $100M in wages (players, staff, operations, etc.) when the franchise takes in roughly $110M in revenues (per Forbes) and was at a $4M net loss last year... I'm not sure they would be quick to match. Especially if it means they have to make an immediate $10M payment the next day.
