Okay, 100 points is a lot for a 2nd wild card. But I have no way to say for a fact that it won't happen.

126 points? That's a lot for a team, but Tampa Bay did it this year, i guess.

The problem is, if those are the point totals, Boston would play Carolina and the Isles would play the Leafs.

You're right about the Boston VS Carolina matchup my bad. 126 points is a lot but the Atlantic division has so many trash teams and some very good teams which makes for a large point range (from 50 to 126), while other divisions with more evenly matched teams have smaller point ranges (like metro and central)

And 100 points as a 2nd wildcard isnt far off of Columbus' 98 points last season as WC2

About the 100 points, that's true. I'm not saying it can't happen, i'm just saying it's a lot. And 98 wasn't a crazy amount either, but more than usual.

Same (or the Rangers winning the cup but Isles are more likely). I don't think Panarin gets 130 points wherever he plays. But nothing wrong with making a bold prediction.

This season is about to be hectic. There's so many teams improving that it's going to be nuts trying to watch the Western Conference especially. There are like 10 or 12 teams that can be legitimate playoff teams next year, and it's a big headache to watch. But it's fun.

Agreed, it seems like almost every team is trying to win now and very few teams are trying to rebuild. It will make for a very competitive season

St. Louis, Winnipeg, Nashville, Dallas, Colorado, Arizona, Vegas, San Jose, Calgary, Vancouver, Chicago are all going to be in the race, plus Minnesota and Edmonton can be competitive too.

Any team in the Metro is a playoff contender.

Yep. Probably five teams in the Atlantic (Tampa, Boston, Toronto, Florida and Montreal) are all in the mix too. It's gonna be a fun year all across the league.

A well run cap league allows for a lots of parity. MLB and NFL don't have so many of their teams possible playoff bound at the becoming of the season. At the entry draft in June and UFA July 1st, all NHL teams are in first place. Fun indeed.

I'd put Buffalo in there. I don't think they'll make it but i'd have to say they have a decent chance.

I'll just pick Pacific right now...
1st Sharks 109 points
2nd Oilers 95 points
3rd Flames 88 points
4th Coyotes 85 points
5th Canucks 83 points
6th Ducks 79 points
7th Kings 76 points
8th Vegas Knights 69 points

I figure my picks for Pacific will be the most accurate right now compared to other divisions... Vegas will "Win" the rigged draft lottery to draft 1st overall too smile...

What about Central? That would show if you have the Coyotes making it or not. I'd assume you don't think Vancouver gets in.

Imagine Edmonton vs. Calgary in the playoffs though. Edmonton is a bit of a bold prediction but you never know.

I never even factored the battle of alberta in playoffs implications or cared smile. I don't really like to watch Flames or enjoy Oilers w/ those ugly prison orange uniforms over the blue they won everything wearing wink. I just figured Flames tend to make playoffs, then miss them the following season... Kinda like they are good one year then suck the next... Figured they might manage to stay in top 3 in weak Pacific division. Sharks or Ducks I think won Division every year until Knights joined league, figure Sharks are only California team who can win anything so smile... I'm thinking Sharks kept enough while adding a bit to get in... Oilers finally got some cap space after dumping off a lot of trash contracts or players... So they probably can still make a minor move or do something at deadline to help them get in... Canucks tend to start out well then fade so figured would be more of same for them... Ducks could surprise everybody but I just don't think they got enough even if people like Gibson in net or whatever his name. Coyotes should be right on fringes, Darcy I think played well for them last year after supposed starter got hurt so... Kings should be around 76 points, Knights will be like Sharks back in the Link Gaetz days this year smile.

I don't know Central is tough as hell to pick right now... I don't really pay nearly as much attention to that division or really care for most part... It was only mistake I made in playoffs too having Jets over Blues then Stars over Jets only to lose to Sharks wink...

1st Stars 115 points
2nd Avalanche 100 points
3rd Predators 95 points
4th Blackhawks 90 points
5th Blues 88 points
6th Wild 85 points
7th Jets 80 points

Those are all like give/take 10 points... So could be in 70's at worse... I figure Blues will dip down a bit having teams play them hard while their style don't work if refs call penalties... HOt goalie taking them far lots of factors should have them fade a bit... I could see Chicago get in top 3, I think Jets will finish last, drop like a stone be rough year... Wild will be more like boom or bust, maybe they in running then fade down stretch or lots depends on who makes what trade when...

I know you didn't try to set up an Oilers-Flames series, i'm just saying it would be fun to watch if it happens. Also, Ducks won the division 4 years in a row.

When you say it was the "only mistake" you made in the playoffs, do you mean you had Columbus beating Tampa Bay? If so, then you're magical lol Sticking Out Tongue

I don't really see the Stars finishing that high, but you never know. About the Blues, you could be right. Still, though, falling to 2WC after winning the cup ... could happen, would be interesting. Jets missing the playoffs isn't that bold, but finishing last behind Minnesota is pretty bold, or at least i'm pretty sure it is. You never know though.
