He's an RFA so nothing. Refuse the contract in Arbitration and he's gone. Perhaps if Dubas was even a decent GM, they could trade his rights.

Maybe not

Nah, they arent, they will brew for one more year in AHL.

If you check Cap space now, its 11,5M...lets say all this money goes to Marnes....put Horton on LTIR and you get 5,3M for acquiring first D, you trade Kardi for second.....

16 Million alright. We can say 10 Million for Marner.

That leaves 6 Million dollars at the max and if they sign Ceci, he will get at least 5 Million. The cap is gone. If you trade Kadri, that's another hole in the lineup.

This exactly. Anyone saying this is anything other than the most fat W for the Leafs are outing themselves as biased Leaf haters.
Ceci (slightly)> Zaitsev
Brown =3rd
Luchuk + Harpur > carcone

Pretty much this

Ceci = Zaitsev

Brown > 3rd

Luchuk (ECHL Player) + Harpur (Non-Starter NHL defensemen = Carcone

Ottawa wins this trade unless they can get Ceci on a good contract.

Dude. They took on Zaitsev for 5 years.
This is a huge win.

No i'm not. They were terrible defensively last year and are now down Gardiner, Hainsey, Zaitsev.

Sure you can say Sandin and Liljegren, but it's not certain they are ready.

Exactly what I've been saying since they got bounced outta the playoffs. You need a balanced roster to win against good teams. Do they think they're gonna win every game 7-6 next season? Right now, they have major holes in their bottom 4 D.

All at the sudeen Brown is better then third...when we were shiping him out for third, he was worth 5th by 90% of gloaters

I'm pretty sure Bob is wrong. They QO him so it has to be 5% more than his last contract.

He can't be paid less than 4.515 Million

How much will it cost to sign him? Just curious.

Last year he asked for 6M but got awarded 4.3M. So let's say if he signs with Toronto, his cap hit will be similar to Zaitsev. I doubt any team will trade for Ceci on that deal at the TDL so no way TOR sign him. Would make this salarydumb useless

Brown is worth the cap dump. The only way you sign Ceci is if you overpay him

QA's only increase up to 1 million. after that it is 100%. The most he gets paid is 4.3

Its ok, wasnt personal, just sayin

Brown is good asset, he just couldnt pan out cause of depth on RW....if he would play with Matthews as Kapanen has, he would be 40 Points again.....same as Kapanen will be 25-30 if he will play 3rd Line this year...and he beats Kapanen cause hes a hitter, which Finn isnt

Yeah, your right. Ceci still isn't worth 4.3 Million at the end of the day

The fact that Ottawa gave up a pick is pretty embarrassing. Better be planning to pump the **** out of Connor brown and flip him, because he definitely isn't sticking around long term.

Really hope Leafs sign Ceci because that would at least be fun to watch

Ya'll ready for Leafs legend Jason Spezza?

Do you think TOR would be looking at Barrie since he's available? Avs are looking to improve secundary scoring and they need a good 2C. Kadri with that contract and age won't hurt the development of Newhook in a couple of years since he can play 3C as well. Might be a win-win trade

You don't fix a hole by creating another hole. Toronto is so top heavy, it's sad. It's why they aren't going to win a cup for a very long time.

Barrie will end as rental, cause TML wont be able to re-sign him. After a thousand simulations i made beyond 2019/2020 im coming to a single conclusion......two RHDs within 8,5M with at least 3-4y Term still are only doable thing ( ofc if we assume we lose Kadri for one of those two and 1,5M 3#C can be found for picks, maybe Jankowski )

It is obvious that the Leafs can't be good. as they were last year. But. the trade (and Marleau's) get the Leaf cap compliant for this year and the chance to make a patch work defence. But the Leafs now have more flexibility in 2019/20 with Zaitsev gone, and Muzzin expiring contract. Then the Leafs are expecting Liljegren and Sandin to be NHL ready. After Marner is signed...the Leafs have about 6m with three roster spots remain to be filled. Cap compliant. And really isn't getting cap compliant more important than winning?

After like 1.5mil or something, QO is just %100 of the last contract. QO is 4.3
