1 or 2 years would've been better but the AAV is pretty low for a 35+ goal guy

aav is pretty high for that term, but if he holds his form for even 2 of these years it'll be a good signing

I imagine his decline starting now, so if I am accurate about this presumption, then this will be a very bad contract.

One of the most consistent player in the game and a personal favorite of mine. Great signing Dallas wish Montreal had signed him

1 year too much. Also Sharks fans, you really think he should've taken like 4m after your team paid near-crippled Karlsson 11,5? Maybe he just realized they don't value him very highly?

The scoring depth the Stars have is getting a lot better, and they're going to be scary good next year. I thought that someone who drives play more would be a better fit for them, but Pavelski is going to score a lot for them and is going to look really weird not in teal.

How can you blame him for leaving when SJS used all their cap space elsewhere? Did you expect him to sign for 700k in order to stay in SJS?

Considering the Sharks will struggle to sign him for even half of that I don't think this really has anything to do with leadership. The Sharks simply signed him out of town.

I cant describe my disappointment as a Sharks fan... If someone would deserve this money on Sharks team, it is him, but Doug Wilson put his faith in Karlsson (and overpayed him in order to sign him before UFA market).

Pavelski>Zuccarrello so I would say this is a win. Not giving up a First and getting better than before.

It's Timo over Pavelski. Seems like an obvious choice to me. I guess they could have kept him and not signed EK, but that was never gonna happen.

What an ignorant statement. You expect him to take peanuts when management is handing out millions to everyone else? Pretty clear Sharks didnt wanna pay for his skill set (including leadership) so he took it elsewhere.

35+ goals is very optimistic. Yes he got it last year, but that's with 20.2% shooting percentage. Prior to this season he was 11.9%. Had he continued that same rate he'd have gotten 22.4 goals. That number likely regresses to the mean. Additionally, 11 of his goals were tips/deflections, which is contributed in by the Sharks' system with 2 offensive dmen firing shots from the point looking for tips/deflections.

700K is a lot of money wink

They could have offered 5-6M.

He was allowed to make the decision. I'm not even a Sharks fan, i'm just saying i don't like the idea of leaving to play somewhere else as a captain. Doesn't the player have to agree to become the captain?

Assuming Pavelski keeps this level up, this is a great contract.

As a DAL fan, I'm excited!

As I said in my other post, he's a great player, great leader and I'm going to miss him in teal, but don't anticipate anywhere close to 38 goals again. Unsustainable shooting percentage + not having the same system designed around shots from the point aiming for tips/deflections, which is where 11 of his goals came from.
