He struggled last year- confidence was completely shot. Still a great skater, if he plays a simple game and gets his confidence back- he can contribute at the NHL level. Seemed to panic often last year, same thing happened to Del Zotto - all the tools, but can be a nightmare when hes under pressure.

Cant imagine we keep him at this point. Dunn, Bouwmeester, Gunnarson, Petro, Parayko, Bortuzzo, Edmundson, Reinke, Pouliot, Mikkola. We have 6 or 7 guys who can fill the last two spots (not including Schmaltz). Edmundson has value as a young defenseman who can be need elsewhere.

Nothing wrong why going into camp with 8 or more NHL Dman. Even if he waived and not claimed, he doesn't hurt the cap.

Not saying it's a bad thing, but the Blues will need to figure out what they're going to do with Schenn and Pietrangelo. Even if they keep one, the other is probably gone by way of cap casualty since Dunn will need a contract as well. Might as well get assets for him while he still has value

I'll disagree that is necessary to trade upcoming UFAs away.....not when you're Cup contender (or champion). Out of the playoffs teams trade their upcoming UFAs. Contending teams keep theirs and even make trades with those non contender teams for their UFAs. Gee, what kinda message it send to your fans and players when you're in a Cup run and trade valuable member of your team for a futures.

I'm not saying trade Schenn and Petro. Edmundson was a healthy scratch throughout the year and postseason, he costs at least 3 mil per season. While it's good to have back ups in case Gunnar or JayBo gets hurt, Edmundson is pretty expendable and helps with the cap situation. He's not a major player compared to the others.
