Apparently Gardiner really wants to come back to Toronto. He signs a very friendly deal on a 4yr contract. Also his back sucks.

If The leafs could somehow end up resigning gardiner rather than Ceci that would be amazing.

Does he really want back or has just not signed that massive UFA contract he was expecting? Leafs would have the decision...Sign Gardiner for what you suggested or sign Ceci for a year and have cap flexibility next summer.
Assuming Habs don't get Aho. would Gardiner be a fit with Montreal?

I genuinely think Habs will get him, and i do think that's a good fit. I'm pretty sure they need LHD, and a scoring LHD at that. Gards would do well in Montreal but he would still probably get crucified by the fans.

I'm assuming Habs get desperate and sign him for more than 5.5M per year.

With Petry and Weber, Gardiner would have good partner. At age 28, we sorta know what Gardiner is. And his skating is excellent and should be there for the length of his contract. There are now few teams with cap space that might want to sign Gardiner, so maybe the Habs are good in position of 5.50m X 4 contract for Gardiner (though I would rather have an offer sheeted Aho)

I also thought the Gardiner and Montreal are a perfect fit just couldn't understand why there was no mention about it b4
