Dundon is a moron if he believes Aho wants to stay in Carolina. If he didn't want to play in Montreal he wouldn't have signed the offer sheet.

At this point, we don't need Pesce's contract as a RD. And Suzuki has so much potential. No deal

No, but Montreal could offer Canes more than just 1st, 2nd and 3rd to change their minds. Completing the trade they were rumoured to be discussing Sunday, because 2 other teams tried to get in on the offersheet game. However unlikely this scenario, its still possible.

The trade above would look more like

Canes decline offersheet and get 1st, 2nd, 3rd from Montreal.

To Canes: Drouin, Suzuki
To Habs: Pesce, 3rd Buf, 2nd Mtl, 3rd Mtl

I don't think Canes need to trade all those picks back, and/or Pesce. Just an example of the scenario that could still happen.

sadly for the kid he will not be traded before 4 years .
1 year for sure and then they will have pay him half of his salary of 5 years so they will not trade him yet only in the 4th or 5th years :-(
so the kid is stock there for 4 years at least

lol. first off they can't trade him for a year, as pointed out. Second off, that is the biggest joke of an offer. Add Domi. What a joke.

No they can not. The cba forbids it. Aho can not be traded from the canes till July 2nd 2020 under any circumstance. Aho is a cane, and they will be paying the bonuses. It was a good try but Carolina opened the wallet. Very promising for their future.

… what I said is not trading Aho. Its Canes not matching and letting him go to Montreal, at which time Montreal completes "the trade" they agree for Canes not matching. You should read more...

Montreal offersheeted Aho due to the circumstances around the Canes. They could have received Aho at a lower AVV rate than they would have to pay for Marner. Marner is going to be EXPENSIVE, and cost more picks. Also, Marner would need to sign this deal, and I hear he also had Toronto sheets as a kid.

I guess I should have clarified that point in the team explanation so people understood like you that that is what I was talking about. The only part that is confusing me a bit is if its already official yet or not. CF has it up on the signings already but I don't think its actually official yet, unless Im wrong and in which case we'd both be wrong about the possible trade.

Its not official.

Canes said they INTEND to match in the allotted timeline of the CBA. Which means Montreal in theory could still talk them into declining. Or maybe Waddell sleeps in that day wink

Everyone is acting like its done and over. Bergevin said last week he is unlikely to sign an offersheet… Things change. If Montreal offers a good deal for a player that signed to be with a different team, Carolina might change their minds.
