Dubas doesn't listen to what the mob wants, he does whats best for the team. I am so happy we don't have guys like Benning or Fenton. Those guys have no clue what they are doing but are scared the mob will cost them their jobs so they reach for stuff.

you would be over the cap when hyman comes back, any idea how long he is out for?

Till November at the earliest. Moves can be made when he gets back in the lineup. Its not difficult to make him fit.

NVM you just send shore down and it mitigates that. gunna be overages with bonuses though.

Can't you defer bonuses until the following season?

Leafs better hope they win the cup in the upcoming season or else it's going to get dicey ... only 1 dman signed after this season.

Leafs would have to send 2 guys down, so they'd be cap compliant when Hyman/Dermott comes back. I think he's out until December, but i could be wrong.

Edit: just saw your other comment.

Who's bonuses? I am not aware of any players on ELC's with performance bonuses.

I said this earlier, if they sign marner long term at 10m who do they let go to resign the defense nylander? Barrie is already half retained. do you think he signs for anything under 5.5 probably not. ceci gets 5x5 in FA. Are the kids ready for the big time? idk the leafs prospects enough but ide say no.

Sandin and Liljegren are probably a year away still, perhaps 2 for Sandin but both look like they will be good players. Barrie may resign but who knows there are always other options.

I think Kerfoot costs more, but not by a ton 3.2-3.5m. come November when Dermott and Hyman are back you will need to clear 3.2-4.2m, and I don't see where that is coming from. There are already 6-7 fringe NHL'ers in the lineup. Sending them two down will clear less than 3m.

Well currently they'd be over 2 million under the cap. Dermott is pretty much a wash cap wise when he's back in. As for Hyman, he'll have a prorated cap hit since he will miss about a 1/3 of the season. So you don't need to clear that much space. As for Kerfoot, I bet he gets only a 1 or 2 year deal to show what he can do before he gets a longer term.

right but if barrie resigns its at 6m not 2.75 cap he is currently at. muzzin and ceci are up. i doubt either guy takes a pay cut. so do they walk? do you try and replace for a lesser tier guy? do you bring back 1 and not the other? lotta moving parts right there. i wouldnt feel great about d corp at end of year.

The funny thing to me, is how people are still so negative.

The defence is now better than it was last year. The forwards? Probably also better and possibly extremely better. This team could very well win the cup. What happens next year? Well the Leafs will do whats best to make the necessary adjustments.

Fans are like the general public, they are stupid. For the most part, and most of them don't think rationally, they think with their emotions. Listening to fans when you are the GM is a great way to make all the wrong moves. Look at Vancouver, they are not good enough and they don't have enough good prospects to fill out the holes they have so they overspend on FA's that will be back contracts in the near future.

Barrie is better offensively but hainsey was better defensively just loads older. spezza is probably better for a 4th line center, kerfoot is not as good as kadri. rest of roster is pretty much the same. hyman is coming off injury im not sure how good he will be this year coming off of it. just an outsider looking in man. just dont understand all the optimism here when leafs havent gotten out of 1st round and they still dont know whats up with marner

Yes, they can be deferred till the next season, and it the Leafs case the would have to be because Horton is on LTIR not IR. But why even bring up the point? The Leafs have no bonuses pending in 2019/20

Barrie will command $7-$8 million after next year. Marner isn't signing for $10,000,000 per season long term he already turned down 8 years at $80,000,000.
