Lucic

Description
weird idea that might be good for both sides (i'm a hawk fan though).
trade seabs to Edmonton for Lucic. add whatever you'd like to add on either side to make it fair in your eyes. here is my justification:

Edmonton:
-lose a forward that is absolutely not effective anywhere in that lineup.
- gain a 3 time Stanley Cup winner who will slot in the 4-6 spot.
- as much as we say he is old, he is still a great dman to have on your team (cap hit aside)
- Edmonton is in win now mode. Seabs can definitely help over the next 2-3 years.

Chicago:
- save $875k/year
- one less year of contract
- we have so many expected NHL dman coming the next couple years i'd rather trade him, than have him in the press box
- i think Edmonton would have to add a pick or prospect to make this even.

Let me know your thoughts.

Why exactly are we giving up a 2nd? I'm sorry but I truly would rather have lucic then Seabrook.. Seabrook is brutal lucic at least provides hits lol

I'm glad a Edmonton fan commented. that's interesting to hear your side. idk many Oiler fans that like him in any way. so if the pick was going from chicago to Oilers would that balance it in your mind? or just a hard no on this premise?

Honestly I just wouldnt even move either of them they both wouldnt waive there nmc lucic likely ends up in either Vancouver or staying in Edmonton he is what he is an next year we dont have cap problems just gotta stay patient

Not worth it. Seabs produces more than Lucic and Seabs is a dman. I'll take the guy that produces 20-30 points on defense than a forward that produces at the same rate. If we trade Murphy to an in division contender, they are paying way more than that.

ha funny how each fan prefers their player. i like to think that means its pretty close to a equal trade proposal.

CFMAN- you don't think its worth it to open a spot for one of our D prospects? i would entertain the idea. i agree seabs is better than lucic in many ways, but could be a unqie solution only avail this, or next year.

I think it is worth it, if they are ready. I think the best we can do is hold out until the expansion draft and then have Seattle pick someone like Murphy. While Seabs is definitely the weak link, theres no justifiable way for anyone to take on his contract without us dishing some major piece out.

Because of the NMC, i can´t se a scenario where Sebs would leave. It would be really hard to convince him to be traded.

the only reason i could see him waive it is two reasons:
1. he is from Vancouver- so be nice and close to home
2. be on a team with MCDavid.. not the biggest sacrifice.

1. Seabs stated before he wants to be part of the hawks organization even after he retires, Plus Van and Edm is not really the same.
2. I'm sure he can DVR McDavid and watch him sunday night, I don't why would he want to play with him. Playing in CAN and especially in town that has nothing but hockey, can be very overwhelming for a guy that in decline. He will be criticized night in and night out, by press, by fans, by kids and pets. I don't know if he wants that.
If I were to bet, I'd say he waives his NMC for Seattle draft, but they won't pick him, he will retires in 1-2 years after that. (or he might go on LTIR in few years for the symptoms of old age)
