Three Team Trade w COL VGK Gusev

Created by: BoredWildFan
Team: 2019-20 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 2, 2019
Published: Jul. 2, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I posted the same trade before the draft and I'm posting it again. It just makes sense to me.
Zucker's M-NTC makes it a little more difficult now, but I think he'd agree to it just to get away from Fenton.

it's not a 3 team trade if you just flip the return from Zucker to Vegas.

& Minnesota is also overpaying quite a bit. As you said, Gusev hasn't played a second in the NHL and you wanna give up a 1st in a deep draft for him? .. That would put Fenton on the hotseat to be fired pretty quick.

Do you know how to format a three team trade on this website?
Fenton's previous (reported) trades involving Zucker haven't been all that impressive.

I'd LOVE Gusev, but why wouldn't Colorado just trade their 1st for him instead of Zucker? The upside is a lot higher with Gusev (and the downside is a lot lower) and Colorado is in a position to handle the risk. I think I'd just rather trade one of our young forwards for him if we want him.

COL could easily trade for him, but it's like you said, it's all about risk. Zucker gives you a minimum of 20 goals on a bad year. We don't know what Gusev brings at the NHL level. He could be Panarin. He could be Nishnuskin (yes, probably somewhere in between). For a team that has a lot of pieces in place, but hasn't won anything, acquiring the known commodity, to me, seems like the way to go. If COL already had a couple of recent banners, then Gusev would definitely be the better option.

As for moving one of our younger players, we know Fenton isn't moving Fiala or Donato. It'd be foolish to move Kunin. That leaves EK and Greenway and I'm not ready to move either of those two for the mystery box. Even if the mystery box has more upside.

I'd move Donato or Greenway for Gusev. Gusev has proven a lot more than those two: he won the MVP award for the KHL, arguably the 2nd best league behind the NHL. What have Donato and Greenway proven? Nothing, sure they put up OK numbers on the Wild but nothing close to an MVP award.

I'd move Donato in a heartbeat. I just doubt Fenton would. As for Greenway, yes Gusev is a better player, but I'm not ready to move on from him yet. Bigger guys generally take a longer time to put it all together and we saw glimpses last year of what he could become.

I generally agree, but for Gusev moving Greenway is worth it. Gusev has put up better numbers than Panarin, Dadonov, Kovalchuk, and even Shipachyov ever did in the KHL (including playoff scoring), this guy has potential to be an absolute superstar and I'd be willing to gamble trading Greenway to get him. Bonus points that he has chemistry with Kaprizov and he could help make the transition to the NHL for Kaprizov a lot easier.
