Description
For me, Barberio is a waste of cap space, even if the Avs have plenty, and clogs up the D pipeline without even being that decent as substitute 7th/8th D. Traded with a pick, however, I think he could maybe fetch Cizikas back. Could be off on values for him & Campbell. Happy to hear how people rate them.

Lines could be juggled but I think they're kind of okay. Bednar juggles a fair bit anyway.

Still some cap space (plus an expected raise the next year) to bridge Girard & Jost, and re-sign Campbell, Nieto, Connauton, Wilson & Francouz if they decide to. If they can sign the likes of Rantanen & Zadorov for a touch less then all the better.

Would be very tight to bring all of them back though, but that leaves progression room for the likes of Timmins (who I've started in the AHL to get in time after last season), Kamenev, Byram, Kaut, Bowers et al.

Graves I liked from what I saw of him last season and he and Alt are easily capable of stepping up in case of injury rather than the likes of Timmins bench warming.

Campbell & Francouz will fight it out for the #2G.

I think donskoi will be on the 2nd or 3rd line, especially with him making 3.9 mil. Also think bellemare will be in the lineup every night. He's gonna be on PK1

As a leaf and Naz fan, I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised with what your getting with Kadri over the next few years.

Fair one. I think Donskoi and Jost are interchangeable, and Bednar likes to mix things up especially on the lower lines. I set it this way to give the Avs a bit of a deeper look, with all lines having some scoring capability. Bellemare I kind of look at as a Brassard type signing (which will hopefully pay off better). Again he's interchangeable with the likes of Wilson and Nieto. I'd happily look at trading Nieto (much as I like him) if it made one of the trades work, and then put either Wilson or Bellemare at left wing or centre. Lots of options on the lines.

Thanks for the input! smile

Yeah I'm still not sure on that one and felt Barrie & Kerfoot could have fetched better/more tbh. Jury is out on Kadri for me but I hope you're right.

I think they should sigh Gardiner, he could play with a defensive d-man. I think they need another d-man that would help the offense since they lost barrie who made 50+ points last here. best option rn would be Gardiner.

I think they'll stick with giving Makar & Girard the ice time to see if they can move up to Barrie standard. Petrovic I liked as he's a righty and that gives the Avs a really decent shutdown pairing with Cole when he's back from injury, or Cole plays with Makar and Zadorov plays with Petrovic which would be a nasty combo.

Thanks for the input! smile

Connauton, Graves (assuming he gets re-signed) or Alt. All better options than Barberio imho. Timmins could get a look for a few games possibly then go down to the AHL for more ice time. All depends on his fitness after the concussion issues. I'd hoped the Avs would find a way to keep Nemeth as he'd have been a better cover option but alas he's gone to the dark side lol.

Edit: Rosen of course is another option.

What about Meloche? Can't say I've ever seen him play but he was a high pick a couple years ago and seems to be progressing in the system. I think Joe is done with the defense and is gonna let the cream rise to the top. It seems like Sakic is banking on a bunch of players taking the next step; jost, Makar, Girard, burakovsky to name a few. It's a little risky for my liking but I'd love to see it work out. I guess it's better than overpaying for a free agent and having cap trouble when Landeskog, Girard, and grubauer need extensions.

Giving up Barrie was a tough pill to swallow so I'm gonna try my best to love kadri lol. Keep the optimism flowing!

Yep, Joe is being a little crafty on the cap side of things and mostly building from within. Still unsure about Meloche. He'd certainly be worth taking a look at if he's still progressing, but he seems to have dropped off the radar. That said the poor guy has had Makar & Timmins come in and that's kind of dumped him down the depth chart.
