Thank you for being logical in the LTIR status of Lupul and Robidas. All that fiddling around with players and the cap, maybe the Leafs should just forget about Stamkos, Save long term money for other players(s)

Stamkos makes no sense cap wise for Toronto @ 11/year IMO. Leaf should stay the course and at this rate become a power house. The number of picks in next two drafts and top end talent already drafted in unbelievable. Mathews, Marner, Nylander, Brown and the list goes on. These kids will require money in 2-3 years. stamkos will still be making 11million then. I'm not a fan of the leafs in the slightest but I do want to see them succeed.

That's a fair opinion. I more wanted to see how the team would look with him. I disagree though and if you look at the long term outlook tab, there is plenty of $$$ floating around, we won't even need to make significant commitments to Marner and Matthews until the 2019-2020 season. As of today, only Kadri, Rielly, probably Nylander, "Stamkos" and Andersen are under contract. Let's just say for fun, Marner, Matthews & Nylander are each making $8M that year (rich assumption - basically it means they are each as good as Tarasenko). That gives you $23M to fill out 15 spaces on your roster. Assuming you can find 3-4 players to play on entry level deals to play top9F/4D and you pay forwards 10-13 ~$1.25M and Dman 6-7 $1.5M. That leaves $11M left for the remaining 5 roster spots. $2M for a backup goalie and then ~$2M for each other player. This also assumes a salary cap that hasn't increased - but even $5-6M gives you significantly more room.
