Description
I think we get Marner just under 10mil later in the summer but not for the term us fans would prefer.

Kerfoot on a 3x3 is a solid deal for both sides.

Ceci reportedly wants 4.5mil but hoping we can get him slightly cheaper than that.. either way, if Dubas were to sign him I think (hope) it'd be on just a 1 year deal as next year I'd much rather let him walk and have a chance to resign Barrie possibly or maybe even a different/cheaper UFA.

Was going to add in a Cody Ceci trade. However, I feel like its 50/50 so for the sake of this, I didn't make the trade myself but adding it to the description. Trading Ceci seems intriguing. Although I don't see much of it, there appears to be some value in Ceci. If we could trade him out (somehow) for a RHD that is cheaper, perhaps on an ELC, maybe we can bring back Gardiner, hearing that he may be willing to take a nice caphit to come back to Toronto.

However, if this is the roster, I gotta admit, I'm pretty happy. Long term, I don't know how it'd end up because of Barrie being a UFA, etc. But for the 2019/20 season, I like the looks of this team and think it is an improvement from last years team... who, mind you, lost in game 7 to the team that went to the SCF ;)

The only thing I'd change is Mikheyev with Johnsson, I'd rather see a bigger body that can crash the net play with Matthews. Matthews is a shooter who creates a tonne of rebounds and Johnsson just doesn't get to the net enough to capitalize on that. On the flip side, Kerfoot is an excellent playmaker and giving him a pair of shooters in Kap and Johnsson, both with speed, will be a very good 3rd line option to send out against other 3rd lines.

I agree, I've been watching a lot of video highlights on Mikheyev and he's the Russian Hyman with better hands. I think he would compliment the Matthews line really well. Having a Johnsson - Kerfoot - Kapanen line is a really scary 3rd line and will probably out score most third lines in the league.

I don't get the sense the Leafs are shopping Ceci. Sounds like management/babs already spoke with him...he's been in contact with some of the other players to start getting acquainted..done radio hits.

Not saying it's impossible...just not getting the impression that Plan A is to move him out. Like Zaitsev, I think he's about $750k-$1m overpaid at $4.5 (if that's the #)..but at least we're not locked into a long term deal.

Agreed on this, also if you play him with a guy like Muzzin, they could potentially be a real solid pairing, look what Muzzin did with Zaitsev in the playoffs. could be a solid option for defensive zone draws/penalty kills. Barrie w/ Rielly has real potential to be a top pairing in the league and having dermott/ whoever on the 3rd pairing could be good aswell.

Will be interesting to see what pairings Babs goes with. I would be surprised if he splits up Rielly and Barrie just to balance an offensive guy with a defensive guy. Ceci says he wants to be a defensive defenceman. Maybe pair him with a stud like Rielly and ask him to play a simple game a la Hainsey. Then Muzzin can be the stay at home guy while Barrie does his thing.
