Before July 1st, I would’ve said no way, but Minnesota my actually be delusional enough to do this, they still think they’re contenders lol

I know Zucker for Leddy has been thrown around a lot, but I don't see Minnesota doing this, they already have Suter and Brodin locked up on the left side for 7.5m and 4.2m, can't see them adding Leddy to that for 5.5m per.

Also, not a fan of the Boyle signing... we have Barzal, Nelson, Cizikas, Fritz as centers right now, with Koivula waiting in the wings. Plus Beau, Bailey and Komarov (albeit badly) can all play C as well.

I think Boyle is a great fit on the Islanders. Also, if not to MIN, where do u think Leddy goes?

I'm not saying he wouldn't fit, I'm just saying I don't like the signing because we have enough bottom 6 guys making 3+ million per year and we have a bunch of young guys ready for the NHL, we could run a 3rd line out there for dal Colle-Beau-Ho-Sang for the amount it would cost us to sign Boyle.

I think MTL would be a good fit for Leddy if they miss out on Gardiner. Also, OTT is pretty thin on the Left side defensively after Chabot, but I'm not sure how much they would want to add Leddy given they aren't likely to be good. Any team that's in on Gardiner if MTL signs him.

Honestly, if the only other move Lou did this year was bring in Dzingel and Trade Leddy for picks/prospects I would not be upset at all. I want no part of Johansson though, he is looking for 5 years and the guy can't stay healthy.

This team doesn't look that bad...

Lee-Nelson-Bailey
Dzingel-Barzal-Eberle
Beau-Cizikas-Ho-Sang
Martin-Fritz-dal Colle
Kuhnhackl-Komarov

Toews-Pulock
Pelech-Mayfield
Aho-Boychuk
Hickey

Varlamov
Greiss

Only other move I might want to see him move is try and move Boychuk off his good year, because I think Dobson is going to be on the team next year and I don't see them trading Hickey and keeping Boychuk and his 6m as the 7th D.

i think that Dobby def makes team. thats all but confirmed. Dzingle would b a great fit. Johansson has past experience under Trotz system. I think JHS is traded this offseason, however.

I agree with you that JHS is probably gone, but I don’t agree with that decision in general on the Isles part lol. I know Johansson has past experience with Trotz, but supposedly he is looking for 5 years but can’t seem to stay healthy, just seems like another bad investment. I agree Dobson makes the team, I just don’t know which of our RHD we move to make room for him. Boychuk is the obvious choice, but not many options for him with his age, 6m per AAV and M-NTC. So, we either have to bench Johnny or Mayfield (who doesn’t deserve to be benched) and trade Hickey.... or move Mayfield, which with his contract and the year he just had may be a mistake.

Agreed, Mayfield should not be moved. A LHD has to def be moved. I think in the end, Johansson gets 2x5, or a one yr prove injury free deal

If it’s a 1 year deal I can maybe live with it. But with all the young talent we have, I’d rather give one of them the spot on the 3rd line, then hand out another term contract for an aging bottom 6 guy... we have enough of those already.
