Aho Hypothetically

Created by: CaptainFlynnt

Initial Creation Date: Jul. 3, 2019
Published: Jul. 3, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Until Carolina officially matches, I will speculate.

Re-unite Puljujarvi and Aho, with KK instead of Laine. Oilers traded Yakupov for a 3rd round pick, I think Hudon and a 4th is fair.

Trade a winger for a D-man, doesn't have to be Ghost but that would be cool. Traded Fluery because he is eligible for the expansion draft.

Is it possible for MTL and CAR (even though there is some tension) to build a trade till monday? For exemple, if MTL offer Suzuki or Primeau as a compensation for them to not match the offersheet? They the have the 3 picks and a great prospect

I think side deals are allowed yes. It is possible, not sure how likely - I think a trade would have been made before an offer sheet if Carolina was interested. At this point if Carolina comes to Bergevin and says what else can you give us, I think it would show Carolina doesn't want to match the offer sheet so Bergevin would just wait it out. If that makes sense.

Forward lines are good, I dont think there is really a right or wrong way of putting them together, either way MTL should have 4 solid lines.

I started Juulsen in the AHL because he doesn't require and waivers and could probably use the extra icetime after last years injury.

Yakupov was traded for a conditional 3rd that could have turned into a 2nd. Yakupov also had glaring holes in his game, whereas Puljujarvi is a much more complete player. Both had very little success with Edmonton, but at least Puljujarvi is fast and forechecks like a mad man. I'd say that value is a little low for Puljujarvi. Edmonton would probably be interested in getting a guy like Byron for him though

Byron for Puljujarvi is not even close. Even if you make the arguement Puljujarvi is more valuable than Yakupov, Puljujarvi publicly declared he wont be playing for the Oilers next season, which takes away a lot of leverage from the oulers in a trade.

Holland has repeatedly stated that he won't move Puljujärvi until the offer he gets is tempting enough.

Until then, Puljujärvi will play in Europe. Which is something I'd recommend for him. A good season in Europe might boost his confidence back.

It's one thing to say it, we'll see if Holland actually follows through. I think hudon and a 4th is fair value.

I disagree. Hudon and 4th have basically 0 value. Puljujärvi is a 4th overall pick from 3 years ago - there's still potential. I'd take the potentiality over pretty much nothing.

Hudon and the 4th round pick both have potential. Certainly lower than Puljujarvi, but Puljujärvi does not have any value to the Oilers if hes not gonna play for them, soooooo... hudon and a 4th is better than nothing.

Waiting for better than nothing might bring stronger results.

Just look at what Sakic did with Duchene. He withhold over a year and traded him when the value peaked...and he absolutely destroyed the trade.

Exactly. A 4th and Hudon have essentially no value whatsoever. I don't know what this guy is smoking

Hudon and a 4th have the value of a 3rd. A 3rd was the value Edmonton got when they traded Yakupov, who showed more at the NHL level than Puljujarvi has. Yakupov had 31 pts in 48 games in his rookie season, Puljujarvi only has 37 pts in 139 career games.

I know you guys don't like it because he was a 4th overall pick and therefore he is still linked to that reputation, but he has obviously been a massive bust up to this point and the player demanded a trade stating he won't be playing for Edmonton next year. Sorry, but Puljujärvi is done in Edmonton.

A 3rd is more valuable than a 4th and Hudon. We've already explained why Puljujarvi should be slightly more valuable than Yakupov. I'm done repeating myselft

Explained what you think, but didn't take the time to see the other side of it.
- Yakupov was more successful at the NHL level.
- Puljujarvi is not playing in Edmonton.
- Hudon and a 4th is basically a 3rd.. I can't believe you would even argue that. 3rd round projects as ~30% chance of playing at least 50 NHL games. 4th round is ~20%. Hudon has played 110 NHL games. If he was put on waivers last year, he would have been claimed, which is why MTL didn't do it. He has some value. You're wasting my time.
