Danault vs Brodie (extend) + Bennett ? Are you doing it

Danault is too valuable to us right now... Brodie is old, I'd rather go with a younger LHD... Think of Nurse, Gostisbehere or Provorov

People's reactions to this have been all over the place. I posted a few similar trades and some people have said this and others have said that Calgary would never do it. It's also been similar in other Danault to Calgary threads

I agree, I dont think Brodie is a good partner. Maybe Leddy because he got 3 years remaining & Romanov will be ready to play top4 minutes in 3 years

Brodie is 29. That's not that old. You could probably get one more contract of top-level production out of him. You would never get Nurse, Ghost or Provorov for danault though.

I guess Marc will accept, because this is more than fair, but we have nobody to replace Danault.

If we get Gusev it will be a 4Mx2 deal or he will stay in the KHL, we don't need Ferland if we get him either, he shoots right and can likely play the right side just as well as the left. He will also cost us a little more IMO, I think taking on reaves as well to put Vegas under the cap would suffice. Also gives us more grit on the back end.

If were adding a 2nd to the MTL trade Juulsen I hope is coming with.

You could do Domi, Kotkaniemi, Jankowski, Poehling down the middle. However I think you guys are going to find another center so it would be New Center, Domi, Kotkaniemi, Poehling and jankowski could play the wing

I think Ferland provides a good mix of grit and scoring. I like the Reaves idea. As for Gusev I don't think anyone will give him 4 without an NHL game. VGK is offering 2 and Gusev asking 4 so this is close to the middle. It'll also likely be more than he'd make in the KHL and after this deal he could cash in big but if he doesn't take a cheap first contract he'll never get a big one. As for Juulsen MTL might add a 4th instead. MTL (at least their fans) tremendously overrate Danault and probably think he could be traded straight up for mcdavid

Yeah, as much as a don't mind bringing Ferland back we still have to win the bidding war for Gusev. I feel like the best way to do that is offer to take Reaves as well. Not only does that get Vegas under the cap but he also fills the same role for us as Ferland (not as offensively skilled but that's fine), is cheaper, has only 1 year left, and shoots right.

As for.Danaults value, it's currently peaking right now in Montreal, he will be pushed down the line over the next 2 years from their young guys and his value will drop fast. I do agree that they are over rating him though.
