No, the point is that they're trying to put a winning team on the ice, and have a serious weakness at RD. The point of trading is to improve the team.

Right but the whole point of trading Gusev is because they can’t afford him. They can’t be absorbing salary

Untrue. Trading Reaves and Holden allows Las Vegas to keep both Eakin and Gusev. The reason for trading either is to improve the defense, particularly the right side.

I won't be sorry to see him go. I love the trade someone just suggested with Florida for Mackenzie Weegar and a high draft pick.
