The problem is that Hyman & Dermott will be on IR to start the season. Meaning that you either have no healthy scratches, or you end up going over the cap, which you won’t be able to get back, due to Horton’s LTIR.

LTIR, cap relief until they are healthy. both injuries are resulting from playoff play, meaning the leafs are allowed to put them on LTIR until theya ready to go. So they get temporary cap relief to fill those holes until theyre back, it really is easy.

I'm not concerned one bit, Leafs management has this under control. I think they've already proven they're no dummies.

Ok, I was thinking they wouldn’t be eligible. So it might be a little difficult for this team to add anything at the deadline, since they won’t have accrued any cap space, but otherwise they’re good.

I was thinking normal IR (no cap relief) instead of LTIR (allows you to go over the cap).

Season Opening LTIR is different than regular LTIR.. be careful with that. It'll come back to bite you in the ass at the end of the season

Please tell me you are kidding. Dubas has done the worst job of cap management since the cap began. not to mention he has all leafs fans thinking Marner will sign at a team friendly rate. one word for all leafs fans...delusional

I guarantee you Dubas and Co. have that and everything else under control. This management group CLEARLY knows what they're doing.

Another problem I just thought about is if someone gets injured mid-season. This would complicate things, and the cap situation would mean that the Leafs cannot dress a full roster if they have more than 2 injuries at a time.

In what way? He shipped out Lou's idiotic deals on Marleau and Zaitsev, got Colorado to retain half of Barries salary plus got a cheaper replacement for Kadri, Nylander deal is good. Matthews is the second best goal scorer in the league and deserves every penny of that. Kappy and Johnson contracts are amazing. In what way has Dubas done anything bad. Get your jealous negative a$$ outta here.

I'm not saying I disagree with that. I'm just saying that if you're suggesting that SOLTIR is the answer for Hyman and Dermott, you may need to rethink that. I think it's more likely at least 1 more trade is made this summer to clear up a bit more space to not have the ramifications of SOLTIR impact them next season

They're all in for this season. Next season the defence is gonna be revamped again with all the UFA's they have coming up. Better do something this year with it

Good logical, well formulated response containing of facts. You calling someone delusional doesn't in anyway make you right and them wrong. Point out the mistakes Dubas has made. You can't. You're just jealous that your GM is a moron. Hayes at 7.1 for 7 years? Now that's delusion my friend.

ok he signed Tavares knowing he had a bunch of RFA's to sign. He didn't count on Marner having a monster year or he under-valued Marner, either way he made a mistake. granted I'm sure he thought he was going to win the cup this year
he signed Tavares knowing Lou had made some questionable signings in particular Marleau, also again knowing he had RFA coming up. He caved with Nylander when he should have let him sit out the year
you think he did good with barrie? maybe in the short term but what happens at the end of this year? same with Ceci. he gave Kadri's money to Ceci but only for one year

correct Hayes contract is horrible I can admit that. now lets say Morgan Frost comes up this year and for the length of his ELC has the same success as Marner. Im not going to believe that Frost as an RFA is going to take less because our GM made mistakes when signing contracts

Okay so the only problem you have outlined is signing Tavares... One thing. Which i would argue is an extremely good thing he did. JT scored 47 goals last year. Gives the Leafs arguably the best 1-2 punch down the middle in the entire league. He gave Kadri's money to Kerfoot actually, at 1 million cheaper, which was another amazing move. He got Kerfoot for 4 years at 3.5 and Barrie for one year at 2.75 for Kadri at 4 years at 4.5. I'd say that was an absolutely amazing trade. Even if Barrie leaves. No mistakes were made. All great moves. that have yet to cost the leafs any players of any significance. Wrong again pal.
