Pretty standard deal. Still a good ways away from being NHL ready, not that that's ever stopped Edmonton before.

So this means he'll be in North America next season? Or can Oilers still loan him back to his Swedish men's team?

I liked the Bouchard pick last summer ... but I hope the Oilers did some serious research before picking Broberg ahead of offensive talents like:

Trevor Zegras
Vasily Podkolzin
Cole Caufield
Matthew Boldy
Alex Newhook
Peyton Krebs
Kirby Dach

And other defenders that were often ranked higher (and are arguably better):

Pick 08 = Phillip Broberg = 9 points in 44 games in Allsvenskan (Europe's 10th highest ranked league)
Pick 11 = Victor Söderström = 7 points in 44 games in the SHL (Europe's 2nd highest ranked league)
Pick 14 = Cam York
Pick 18 = Thomas Harley
Pick 19 = Lassi Thomson
Pick 20 = Ville Heinola = 18 points in 41 games in LIIGA (Europe's 3rd highest ranked league)
Pick 22 = Tobias Björnfot
Pick 84 = Mikko Kokkonen = 19 points in 56 games in LIIGA (Europe's 3rd highest ranked league)

It's also notable that LD is easily Edmonton's strongest position on the depth chart:

Osacar Klefbom
Dernell Nurse
Kris Russell
Brandon Manning
Dmitri Samorukov
William Lagesson
Caleb Jones
Keegan Lowe
Markus Niemeläinen
Matthew Cairns
Filip Berglund
Philip Broberg

I'd love to hear McDavid's honest opinion on this.

Edmonton didn't draft a winger until the 4th round this year ... last year they waited until the 7th.
I bet he's miffed that Edmonton hasn't prioritized his wingers ... especially after missing out on award season.
He could have have had some extremely talented line-mates as early as next season:

JOEL FARABEE - CONNOR MCDAVID - COLE CAUFIELD.

And other defenders that were often ranked higher (and are arguably better):

Pick 08 = Phillip Broberg = 9 points in 44 games in Allsvenskan (Europe's 10th highest ranked league)
Pick 11 = Victor Söderström = 7 points in 44 games in the SHL (Europe's 2nd highest ranked league)
Pick 14 = Cam York
Pick 18 = Thomas Harley
Pick 19 = Lassi Thomson
Pick 20 = Ville Heinola = 18 points in 41 games in LIIGA (Europe's 3rd highest ranked league)
Pick 22 = Tobias Björnfot
Pick 84 = Mikko Kokkonen = 19 points in 56 games in LIIGA (Europe's 3rd highest ranked league)

It's also notable that LD is easily Edmonton's strongest position on the depth chart:

Osacar Klefbom
Dernell Nurse
Kris Russell
Brandon Manning
Dmitri Samorukov
William Lagesson
Caleb Jones
Keegan Lowe
Markus Niemeläinen
Matthew Cairns
Filip Berglund
Philip Broberg

I'd love to hear McDavid's honest opinion on this.

Edmonton didn't draft a winger until the 4th round this year ... last year it wasn't until the 7th round.
He could have been starting next season on a line with JOEL FARABEE + COLE CAUFIELD.

No because I wanted the Broberg pick to be Caulfield. I meant that I understood the Bouchard pick more than the Broberg pick

Those that voted no must have disliked the draft pick since should want to sign player unless VEgas wasting Gusev in playoffs only to get burned wink.
