Freeing up TO space and then freeing up some of our own

Description
Okay CapFriendly peeps an interesting move not sure what kind of traction it can hold but with Barrie Ceci and Holl on the Right side I think the Leafs could use one more piece there to solidify the top 4 to play behind Barrie.

Canucks give up Tanev or Stecher (I prefer stecher actually especially to be able to sign Barrie next year). In return take the retained 1.2 million of Kessel's money, Horton, Kasperi and a 2nd

That Leafs deal is purely awful. Kapanen is going nowhere. Tanev is a major injury concern. I do not believe you can trade retained salary.

Hate to break it to you, but it's not possible to trade retained salary. The Leafs also have no reason to trade Horton away and definitely won't give up Kappy (who they just signed to a great bridge deal) in a trade that doesn't bring back a high-end RD option.

No you can not trade retained salary. Horton in ltir does not affect our cap. So this trade does little to help.

While I agree with you that Tanev would be a nice piece at RHD, that's two steep a price Kapanen and a 2nd. Leafs have already lost Brown and is unsigned Marner so Kapanen is needed at RW.
Horton does not affect the Leafs cap space at all......why is this nonsense perpetuated? Sorry Ericsson can't just be "wished" onto LTIR.
