Why Trade Turris

Created by: PB90

Initial Creation Date: Jul. 4, 2019

Description
Why trade Turris? Still has loads of potential, especially since he will be in theory playing against other teams 3rd liners. If we need to move him for cap space for Josi, lets do this next of season when we know Josis contract and term. Additionally Turris value is relatively low compared to where we got him, all I foreseeably see his value doing is going up. I say we go out and try to get better top 9 scorers on the wing to really round out the roster.
Give up a 3rd for PuljuJarvi essentially. Honestly think they could nab him for 1.5 million, but went a little high to be safe. Tons of upside great chance for the preds to take. worst case he's a bottom 6 guy with alot of skill, i'd prefer him over the likes of Salomaki or Freddy G.
Reunite Justin Williams with Lavi, takes a bit of a pay cut for one last run at a cup to be a bottom 6 guy, a hell of a lot less pressure on him than was at Carolina.
Also would be fine trading Weber/Freddy G/Salomaki/Irwin for any kinds of picks, but wouldnt be the end of the world if they stayed eathir, maybe just listen around for something that may come up to move a bit of cap/ aquire late round draft picks.

I don't understand why you would want to trade him either, thats a solid 3 centers. I think the guy who should be let go is bonino, no one needs 4 mill on a 4th line center.

My guess is because your spending 26 million on centers... who needs a 4 million dollar fourth line center and a 6 million dollar third line center.....

I agree, they have the cap space, having depth down the middle is a luxury to have. Depending on who Nashville wants to keep, Granlund, Watson, Smith, Josi, Hamhuis, Irwin, and Weber are expiring next season. That opens up around 18 million for Josi who is really the only core piece.

Who do you think was better in their prime, Kadri or Bonino?

Josi will probably get 8 years 72 million.

Okay, and they have another 9 million to use as well, their hand really isn't forced in this situation.

I'm hoping kadri as the avs just picked him up. haha but i donno boninos only good time was when he was 3rd string in pitts, at least kadri has a couple 30 goal seasons under his belt.

Yes Kadri is better for sure, way more skilled. What about Bonino and Bjugstad?

I don't know much about either, i've barely watched bjugstad play being in the east and thats when i think bonino would have been at his best as well, i don't really notice him now when colorado plays nashville, although im not really looking for him much either. since bjugstad is younger i would go with him now, but i think bonino in prime years might play his role better at 3c

Bjugstad is a great skater and stick handler. He plays an all round game but is not physical. Do you think the Penguins could trade him to clear cap space and maybe get Sissons instead?

I doubt nashville wants to take on more cap at the moment and another center with the depth they have right now

Well then do you think the Avs could trade for Hörnqvist? They could use a winger on the second line, plus he’d fit perfectly with Kadri.

Well 5.5 million for a 32 year old with 4 years left is tough. But Hörnqvist still has much to offer. He’s a top 6 winger who will score 25-30 goals playing in the blue paint. Plus he adds a lot of grit and physicality. He will provide leadership and invaluable playoff vision experience to this young team.

I'm sure he still brings value but i don't think colorado would bring him in right now with all the wings that we recently signed. I think pitts would have to eat some salary too as we have a bunch of young guys comin for raises in the next couple seasons and at that point i don't think pitts would want to throw him away for cheap and retain salary
