We need a fourth line one way or another, and you literally can't get cheaper than this contract. If our prospects in Syracuse aren't quite ready, we know Martel can handle a fourth-line role, and otherwise, we'll send him to the minors and his cap hit won't count against us. At the very least, he can play if someone else gets injured.
