Got it. Don't like trading one of our top defensive prospects and JHS for a player who had a down year after his contract was signed. I'd love Ehlers on Barzal's line but I'd rather not trade Wilde for him

What would you say is a fair deal? Replace Wilde with a pick or something?

I'd be willing to part with a pick over Wilde

I just think Winnipeg needs young RHDs even more than us. I'm okay with moving Wilde if it means we get a proven scorer who can score 60 points and has flirted with 30 goals. He's still so young too, so I figured we'd have to send someone young back.

So in my mind, Wilde is expendable, but that's just me

I mean, I know Wilde has a ton of potential and our RD need isn't exponential, we have some very solid prospects. It's not GETTING RID of Wilde that irks me, it's getting rid of Wilde for what is effectively a 50/50 chance of getting a potential 30 goal scorer or getting an injury-prone shell of his ex-potential. if Ehlers had played a full season this season he was on pace for ~50 points and ~30 goals, but I dont want to lose Wilde for something that isnt guarenteed health-wise and point-wise. If he could stay healthy I have no doubt in my mind a line of Ehlers-Barzal-Bailey would tear up the league. Bailey feeding those two is a dream.

Yeah that's the dream lol

I get your concerns. Personally, I think there's a better than 50/50 chance Ehlers returns to form. He's 23 years old. And keep in mind, every reason the Islanders have to acquire Ehlers applies to the Jets too. They have absolutely no reason to trade him, the only reason I keep banging the drum is because the rumors were out there
