Not that Panarin would have cost a 1st because he went undrafted, but would you have given up a 1st?

yes, but That is an exception. Not gurantee Gusev will become Panarin

difference is Panarin showed up for us in NHL. So that's a sample size. Gusev has no NHL experience...

Gusev played for Vegas in the playoffs, so technically you're both wrong. That's why he's a restricted free agent. If he hadn't signed to come to North America, he'd be a UFA

Gusev didnt play in the playoffs. Vegas just had his rights.
That being said, you don't give up a first for a guy who has never played in the playoffs. Maybe deal someone like Blais and a second (or something comparable) for him.

He signed his ELC but did not play actually. And yes Gusev will step into the league and be just as good as Panarin. Less of a goal scorer but more of a playmaker. As a Pens fan in win now I would easily give 2 firsts to acquire him, especially at such a low cap hit.
