Kreider

Created by: Heyhowareya37

Initial Creation Date: Jul. 5, 2019
Published: Jul. 5, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Seen some crazy high prices for Kreider. I may be low balling a bit, but his career high is 53 points, and he has 1 year left on his deal. The Rangers have a bunch of RFAs to sign and have tight cap after Panarin signing, if they want to have space for Trouba, Lemieux, Deangelo etc. something has to give.

I don't see the rangers trading Kreider anymore. They just got some good talent this offseason and they're more than likely going to let the season play out and then decide at the trade deadline what to do

I don't disagree. They're tight to cap, and I could see them moving smaller pieces to make it all work. It seems very 50/50 on if they should keep or trade. If they are out of the playoff race, they probably will get a higher price for Kreider at the deadline with higher demand (i.e. Kevin Hayes) anyway.

For me that’s still too much. Rangers fans think Kreider is Gretzky

Swap out Frederic for JFK (Quinn had coached JFK at BU). Get rid of the 3rd and make it a 2021 2nd if Kreider re-signs. So if he doesn't its just JFK + Zboril + 2020 2nd

Sure, I could see the connection, and it makes sense. Wanted to sort of find a medium between the underselling and overselling (Thats where Frederic and the conditional came in). Strayed away from JFK just because of his situation going back to Sweden leaves him a bit up in the air for now. Definitely rather give JFK than Frederic for sure though.

Krieder is gonna cost a 1st round pick that should be somewhere in the 20s, whether that is before the season or after. maybe two second rounders. He's a 25+ goal scorer who is on a cap friendly deal at the moment. There just arent a lot of those players available. At the deadline they getr that and I think they know it. So they wont give it up, bc thats what guys like this go for. The rangers dont have much to do to get under the cap, moving between 4-8mm depending on what comes back or who goes after signing trouba et al, especially if they buy out Smith.

I had mentioned earlier that they probably will trade off some lesser pieces to get the cap down and then get a higher price at the deadline for him if they aren't in the playoff mix. I mean in some cases they do and some cases they don't. His cap is great, but its kind of marred by the fact that he has 1 year left. We saw JT Miller get a 1st rounder, but he's had similar point totals, he's center on a relatively friendly deal with term. I agree that they dont have a crazy uphill battle, but he is a candidate to go. I agree that its smarter to hold and let demand get higher as the year goes along, you probably get your first there (similarly to Kevin Hayes)
