This is what happens if the Isles offer sheet Marner for 125M

Description
I honestly don't hate this. It would suck to lose Marner, but our D becomes a major strength and we have cap space plus 4 firsts to play with.

While I agree they would not match that offersheet, there is no way they are bringing back Jake Gardiner.

lol, isles can't even pull that off, after they sign beauvillier they have less than 8 MILLION. AND they still have to sign Pulock and Barzal with the biggest contract going out the door will be Matt Martin (2.5m). I hate fake reports

Gord Stellick reported on NHL Network that there is a possible offer sheet coming in today or tomorrow on Marner at 12.5..... They have suggested that it may be Buffalo or Detroit.... very outside shot of it being Ottawa.

NYI could trade Leddy ($5.5M) and Beauvillier to MTL for prospects and picks.

He was the best scorer in the AHL at age 21.. If he's not ready now he'll never be.

Someone suggested, on tv, that it may be Detroit? And people believe this person? Yzerman gift wrapping lottery picks?? Awesome.

NJ or Colorado maybe.

Nick Leddy ($5.5M) easily traded. Buyout Komarov. Hickey at $2.5M should entice someone. $3M est. cap increase. Over $12M coming off the books. LTIR Ladd.

Not suggesting EVERYTHING above will happen but you're foolish if you don't think it's more than possible to fit everyone in.

Trade Leddy and Hickey - Buyout Komarov - LTIR Ladd and even trade Boychuk if they just want more cap space. Greiss and Martin off the books next year, I don't think it's going to happen but the Isles have more than enough space to make it work.

Greiss, $3.333.333. But they're still short (don't forget Toews).

Yeah, and if frogs grew fur, we wouldn't have to chase the wily ermine.

jeff veillette has said that a few times. He's one of the best sources for Marlies knowledge.

I think the issue was that his underlying metrics were abysmal, he just happened to kill it on the PP or something like that. And the Leafs wouldn't be using him on the PP, and then his 5v5 stats were all crap

Not quoting Jeff though, I cant remember what he said for sure

Yes, but the point is, look at the dislocation it would cause, plus the loss of four first-round picks. Factor in the lack of star-quality production from many of your recent first-round picks (Dal Colle, Ho-Sang, Bellows) and you're talking about severely restricting the team's future. Is the price worth the product?

I can tell you from watching him a lot this past season Jeremy Bracco is for sure ready for a legitimate NHL shot.

I think you just answered you own question, Isles are not great at drafting in the late first round regardless. Marner is close to/is a top 20 player in the entire NHL. Id take that guaranteed production over lottery tickets - especially on a team that struggled to produce offense

Certainly a reasonable position.
