I know, Nylander proved he can't carry a line by himself last year, this would continue to make Nylander's contract look worse. Everybody wants to scream that Marner piggybacked of Tavares but we all know for sure, Nylander is nothing but average (on par with Kerfoot) without Matthews. So Nylander is getting double of what his worth.

9 mil is hilarious ( don’t wanna see any salty leafs fans saying ‘oh but it’s his hometown and it’s his dream’ . Shut up if Habs gave him 12.5 he wouldn’t hesitate)

Not if literally any other team offer sheets before Toronto gets Horton on LTIR (in the fall) and teases a couple more assets

I've been saying this on other threads. If any team(NYI on the others) offer sheets Mitch, I personally would still give him a standing ovation(honestly no hard feelings). Whatever team gets Mitch will love him, as he's a very fun and exciting player to watch\have on your team. I just don't think he's worth the money it would take to get him. imho Also Collin Campbell, went on sportsnet a few years ago and explained that teams can apply for off-season LTIR if needed. However the team applying has to be able to provide medical documentation proving that said player is\will be unable to play for (i believe it was the first 10 games of the regular season) dont quote me on the amount of games though.

Oilers could have the best down the middle Team. You are moving Nylander to C so lets assume the Oil moved Draisaitl back down the center
McDavid
Draisaitl
Nuge

Though the wing depth on the Oilers can not carry over the centers talent, meanwhile the Leafs have enough talent on the wings to support 3 all star centers.
