TRYING to be realistic

Created by: Jumbo_Shark19
Team: 2019-20 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 5, 2019
Published: Jul. 5, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I would like Chmelevski to crack the lineup. But in the event that he doesn't and the Sharks dont trade Melker... Marleau and Phaneuf come in on the cheap because they are already getting enough money this year from being bought out. Hoping Phaneuf will want to prove the Kings wrong by signing with a rival team. Aberg can come in and fill in where Donskoi started out the season on the 2nd line with Hertl an Kane.
Still with $1M+ in cap space left. This also allows the Sharks to give Jumbo more than just the $1M/1 year contract everything is thinking he will take for the hometown discount.

Winnipeg deal has some logic to it, but chances are San Jose has to take at least 1 contract back. Jets need their cap space for RFA's but Dillion isn't a bad fit there. Maybe Nathan Beaulieu added in the deal but take out the 3rd.

Vancouver has no interest in Dell. They already have Markstrom who they've been reported to be working on an extension with, and Demko who they just signed to a 1 way NHL deal, plus still have DiPietro in the minors. So there's no deal that works for them.

Maybe Carolina? But I feel they are already doing the Sharks enough of a solid with the whole Marleau debacle. Who do you think would be willing to take on Dell and his $1.9M?

Haha. No one WANTS Dell. I guess I am obviously better off buying him out instead of trying to trade him. Sorry for trying to just rid the Sharks of that contract.

Have to agree with @Ajp_18 on this one. Columbus seems to be set to go young in net with Korpisalo and Merzlikins. No need to bring in Dell.

I do think Dell is moveable in the right situation though. I'd think the San Jose has to retain a little, and not expect a significant return. But the issue is that San Jose doesn't have much depth at goaltending and Martin Jones is shaky enough to need a quality back up behind him. If the Sharks were serious about moving him I think Florida is a good fit. San Jose could take Colton Sceviour in return to balance out the cap a bit without retaining, but I'd guess that the Sharks add a 3rd to 5th round pick in the deal. It would also be dependant on finding a new permanent back up
