Leafs match, but that's a good thing for OTT. OTT should actually offer something lower just in case TOR doesnt match. Now TOR is in a really tough spot...needing to shed a ton of cap with most teams not able to accept cap.

Marner doesn't sign that offer sheet. He signs with the Leafs for less or even takes another offer sheet for less. The title of the post is misleading "We want Marner". Ottawa would have to offer at least 12m for Marner to consider it.

Start of the season horton, dermott, and hyman go on ltir which give the leafs $12,178,634. Once hyman and dermott are back they will need to find a way to free up half a million once they send down 2 of marincin, holl, petan, or harpur. It would be tough but they can and would match that especially if it's a 7 year deal.
Edit: all they would need to do is send down Gauthier.
