Sens weren't willing to pay Turris when he was worth 6 million

I mean, they have to eventually hit the cap floor. May as well do it with an old face, for cheap.
Not to mention:
A) It saves face with the Duchene deal
B) after Zaitsev, who knows?

HA!
Melanik and saving face do not go in the same sentence.
I'd go as far as saying he would rather troll the Sens fanbase (like he did in April on a Toronto radio station and then the next day on a Ottawa radio station) hoping Ottawa city council gives him a sweetheart deal on a downtown arena.
Trickster liked this.

Turris was on pace for about 57 points last season before his first injury. Then he rushed back and got reinjured. Never found his groove when he came back. I have confidence he will bounce back. Turris looked good in the worlds with mantha so perhaps it was a confidence issue there. If you look at his record, the last season he had significant injuries his production took a dip similar to last years but he bounced back the very next season.

Granlund at 3RW is a waste. Keep smith (better chance of being able to re-sign at end of season) and trade granlund.

I don’t see the purpose of the Columbus trade. Sign sissons and there’s your 4C.
