Considering over the last 8 years every season but the previous hes had 36+ points its a pretty foolish decision to jump the gun on a single outlier season, hes worth giving the chance to revive himself first.

I agree with that. But that was ugly last year - even as a sharks fan I felt bad for the Flames.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely think his game has slowed down, but if that was his fall off it was a steep cliff. Nevertheless I think it had more to do with the Flames game style not matching his

Hard to imagine someone not meshing with two great players in Gaudreau and Monahan.

Similar to the Lightning, the Flames play a very fast paced end to end break out kind of game. Where size is less of an issue due to the amount of open ice it generates (look and Gaudreau and Point). Neal just didn't really adapt to that playstyle like Lindholm did and therefore didnt mesh well with the 1st line. Then his defensive skills didnt translate well with Backlund and Tkachuk like Froliks did.

I think it is hard to match anyone with the style of Jankowski, especially anyone who is a slow footed pure shooter and Janko is where the play goes to die. Neal needs a center that can drive the play, not drive it himself.
