Ya try putting yourself in the Jets shoes. If Cheveldayoff has zero intention on moving Laine (which is the case imo, but I could be wrong! *fingers crossed*) If MTL is calling, 1. I say Laine is not for sale. 2. If Habs insist, Jets ask for something ridiculous like Kotkaniemi + Domi + Brook + 1st, because why not! 3. If Habs threaten to offer sheet Laine, hang up the phone and let them, match whatever they give him. If his cap hit is insanely high, Jets can always move guys like Perreault, Kulikov during their 7 day decision period. Or just take the 4 1st's (which I doubt MTL goes that far).

Option 3 is the most likely imo. But it still gives a slight chance for MTL to get Laine (very slim chance). If teams have no interest in guys like Perreault and Kulikov (and the further we get in the offseason, the more teams have already solidified their roster and become less willing to take on big contracts), The Jets could screw themselves, especially that the buyout widow is closed now too. But I can see them taking their chances.

I dont think they do, because the jets arent close to signing Laine. He wants 10 mil and the Jets arent even near that number. Plus there are rumours that MTL is interested in Laine.
In this case, you get a roster player thats signed at 5.5 for the next 4 years and next to Sheifele and Wheeler could put up 60-70 points or you put him next to Ehlers. Drouin would be a great fit for Winnipeg.
Lehkonen would be Maurice's favorite player and you get a first. IMO i would also add a 2nd and 3rd to make it like an offer sheet.

Replace Lehkonen and the 21’ 1st with Suzuki and the 2020 1st rounder and I do it.
