Not saying the deal is complete. I had a weird dream where I was watching TSN or something (boring I know), and they announced a trade with MTL acquiring Laine *I jumped for joy*, then followed up that Gallagher was going the other way *then I sunk in my chair* lol

Obviously Laine is the younger more talented player. But for what Gallagher brings (30 goal scorer at less than $4mil cap hit), it would be an interesting deal to say the least.

That trade is possibly not good but It was just a dream so no hard feeling lol. The night before JT signing in Toronto I had a dream of him signing with Isles and then Leafs acquiring Ryan ORielly from Buffalo for 2019 1st, 2020 3rd, Brown and Bracco. and ROR posted a picture of him in Leafs pyjamas afterwards which was ridiculous lol

That would of been a pretty solid ROR trade considering what BUF actually got for him lol But if Gally actually got traded for Laine, there's still some part of me that would be disappointed. You just don't trade guys like him and his character AND that he scores 30 goals at a measly $3.75mil aav...

If you're going to all the trouble of trading your most popular player to acquire Laine, why wouldn't you bridge him for 2-3 years to see whether he's actually the real deal. The difference between a rookie year of 64 points (+7) and a second season of 70 points (+8), compared to last season's 50 points (-24) is a flashing yellow light. There's no other team out there that's going to offer sheet him this year and, in two years, with Danault, Kotkeniemi, Poehling, Petry and Tatar all needing new contracts, the bridge will make these decisions a lot easier.
