I commented that Marner now deserves a max contract due to Ryan Graves getting close to the league minimum but with news of this signing Marner is now asking to become a 100% owner of the Maple Leafs for free

MY GOD

If Sanford can get $1,500,000 x 2 as an RFA .... than Marner's gonna get at least $14,950,000 x 5 .... even more with an offer sheet!

This is crazy.

As a Blues fan, I honestly think it’s a good deal and I think Zach made that money in the Cup final. With that said, if he’s getting $1.5 mil, what’s Oskar Sundqvist and Ivan Barbashev gonna get? At least $2.5 mil right? Maybe $3? Those 2 will be interesting to see let alone Binnington and Edmundson. Most Blues fans think Eddy’s gotta go.

This is a good deal because the Blues added depth for really cheap, now we should have some room for Maroon if he does end up trying to come back to the team.

Yes but his signing clearly indicates that Marner's value is now in the $14,940,000 - $14,960,000 range on a 5 year contract.

How do you not see this?

Because Marner and Sanford are 2 completely different players with different situations.

He's still joking. It's because TSN completely blows the Marner contracts out of proportion and says stupid things like his comment

He actually just broke some news:

"Sources say Marner has been offered a Supermax deal from the LA Clippers. Value is $231,000,000 over 5 years. More details to come"

And that's just on a 5 year. On an 8 year it is approximately $27,456,373
On an 8 year with an offer sheet it is $172,174,476,328,237,327,893,832,478,372,764,466,466,829

Oh my goodness I am now confirming that Real Madrid has offered the Leafs a transfer offer worth nearly $500M. Marner will make close to $300M on his new contract with Real Madrid. The expectation is that he plays point guard and has a batting average of .555 with 72 touchdown passes

Wait... I can see it, yes it is now clear! How could I not see this before. Marner should get a 14,959,999.99 contract so it does not look too greedy to ask for the full 14,960,000

If they give this much to him, what is Sundqvist and Barbashev gonna get?

This is what happens when you win the Cup. Depth players become way overvalued. Remember Beagle and Roussel? $3M each.

Ivan gets around a 1.5 about the same as Sanford. Sundqvist is around 1.75-2.5M.

I hope that’s what it takes, but they both showed their value in the playoffs. They were the best line many nights. And crazy coincidence but we lost both games when Sunny and Barbie were suspended against Boston. Imo I just think they’re worh $2 and $2.5 respectively. If they sign for what you say, they’re home run deals for the team that gives us more flexibility.

Kevin Lebanc is better than Sanford. Sanford is a bit spotty but when he showed up he was good.
