If you're saying this is revenge for Tavares.... wouldn't at the end of the day mean that New York basically traded John Tavares and 4 1st round picks for Marner?

Not sure the leafs are that upset about this

Our revenge on Tavares was making it further than them in the playoffs, destroying his soul when he returned to Long Island, and making Toronto have a day for him because Islander fans were a bunch of meanies.

If we're offer sheeting Marner it's because he's a damn good player and would be a great fit on this team.

Why is the Leafs the anger of Isles fans? Tavares was going to sign with any one four teams not named the Isles? I doubt if Marner even signs that offer sheet. He comes back to Leafs, using that as negotiatjon and the two sides sign very quickly

All the Islanders did was re-assured Tavares that he made the right choice and showed the Leafs how embarrassing overachieving is when you hit the second round of the playoffs and get swept by Carolina.

what's embarrassing is getting outscored 10-1in Tavares first two games against the Islanders. What's embarrassing is leafs fans acting like the team was guaranteed to make it to the eastern conference finals before the season even started, only to to choke in the 1st rd once again. Until the leafs get results, you have no bragging rights. Great team on paper that can't win big games.
