Description
Yes you can get more for Marner in terms of picks etc., but 2 firsts and a bonafide bruising 40 point RHD who won't require 8 million to remain a Leaf is a pretty OK haul.

Oh man ..... this is a big one... where to start.

I would try instead for Barrie and ceci for Parayko ...

as it stands now, you are overpaying BIGLY !! HUGE !!!

For Marner , trade him to a team with a lot of money to throw around. IF STL agrees for Barrie and Ceci , than they won't have enough cap space to sign marner.

Just look at the scouting for barrie and parayko and you will see that Barrie is not as bad as you are making him out to be.

Yeah but Marner is not a good fit for the Blues as they don't have a JT to line him up with. Also Parayko is St. Louis's best dman under an extremely team friendly deal. Dman especially right shot are the most conveyed commodity around the league statistically. Also the Blues just won the cup so i doubt they would want to break up their core. Yes Berrie is good (offensively) but terrible in his own zone (similar to Gards). You also cant base a players value based on stats alone, as there are alot of things that stats dont tell you (not saying they aren't useful) just dont tell yhe whole story. Always best to use stats and the eye test to see if someone would be a good fit.

The fact that no team has obviously even presented an offersheet close to matthews salary or somebody (ie paul marner) would have leaked it makes me think alot of other teams are fearful that marners stats are inflated greatly by being on JT wing. About the trade the leafs may shop around for a solid physical shutdown dman round deadline but i think the plan is to see what they have seeing this team is as good overall if not better than last years.

Completely agree, Marner is not worth that much and the stats dont lie. Marner is a good player but JT made him a great one. I understand how valuable Parayko is which is why I never did a trade proposal for him (doesn't make sense for either side). Unfortunately I think your rightfrown I wish my leafs would add a top paring rhd but I just dont see it. Ceci will most likely be Reilly's partner (at least to start the year) until around trade deadline day at the earliest.
