Fair enough. Maybe the 9th overall is too much of an ask. Swap it for a 2nd round pick and maybe its more palatable? In any case it's a long shot. MTL probably asks for Tanev and Horvat which is a deal breaker for VAN. EDM likely has the better assets to get this done. And realistically, I don't see MTL trading him... just playing around with what it would look like.

The problem is that your undermining the whole point of the concept. We're doing you a favor and taking Burrows off your hands, giving you hands down the best players in the deal all to move up only 4 spots? Tanev and Hansen are not enticing Montreal to move Subban. A 27 min a night RH dman who outscores both Hansen and Tanev combined when healthy.

I think he's staying in MTL but its fun to think about the possibilities. cheers

Van should say NO to this deal.

Tanev @4.5 M + Dubois is way better than Subban @ 9M + 9th overall.

Subban is way overpaid. Want proof, look at the numbers.
At 28 mins a game Subban is on the ice for a total of 7.8% of the total game played (no overtime). Yet his 9M dollar salary represents 12.3% of the total team cap hit. Not worth it IMO.
