First time he became expendable when they brought in Muzzin which in one level beyond Gardiner defensivelly

Second time he became expendable when they brought another Offensive D to Team with Barrie

Third time he became expendable is Dermott being same kind of player just 6 years younger

Fourth time he became expendable with the emerging of Sandin in AHL

Tho i was advocating for Gardiner for the last two years, the first two moves unfortunatelly just ruled him out of Team. If anything bring in shutdown D, cause we dont have any....still....

This really wasn't about Gardiner however he is the best D available so I gave him every dollar of the available cap space for one year. Like it or not, the Leafs are a significantly better team with him on the ice than without and there are few free agents left that would have any impact at all let alone the impact he would if healthy.
