Why? They're easy winners of that trade. Don't think I'd do it if I were Boston.

Not a single one of those pieces has the potential of being as good as Toffoli. Boston is taking two likely bottom-six pieces (JFK & Heinen), tacking on a salary dump and a mid-round pick, and hoping to get a quality top-six player.

In order for the Kings to consider this, they'll have to be getting back a piece that has the potential to be eventually as good as Toffoli, whether it be a 1st round pick, or a young prospect that's still several years away from reaching his potential. That doesn't happen here.

Kings say no.

Heinen is better than Toffoli right now and under longer team control. JFK and a pick is a fine package for Backes, although not for a cap team like LA.

Heinen is not better than Toffoli....ever.

Toffoli just had a brutal season scoring at a career-low 5.8%, and he still scored 2 more goals than Heinen. Toffoli also has 3x 20g seasons and a 30g season under his belt. Heinen hasn't even scored 30g in his entire career.

LA is not a cap team. They're not going to have any cap issues for the foreseeable future. However, this is just a bad trade for them.

If you want to do JFK, Heinen, Backes and a 3rd round pick for Kovalchuk with retention, then the Kings might not hang up the phone.

I really like Toffoli but he has around the same (1.6 to 1.4) P/60 at evens, same defensive impact, is UFA, and is three years older. One for one LA says yes in a heartbeat.

Ok, you can keep believing that. I can tell you right now there is no way that the Kings would trade Toffoli for Heinen.
