Ima hawk fan.

what do you Sabre fans feel about the trade. joki was a very polarizing player in Chi town. some love him and think he is top 4 Dman, some thought he would be traded for a draft pick.. i always liked him, but didnt think he was a top 4d. more of a 5-6 man.

what are we getting with Nylander from your point of view?

nylander is 21

he has 6 points in(3g,3a) 19 nhl games and hes a -9

in 165 Ahl games he has 86 points..... ( .52 ppg)

Jokiharju had 12 points in 38 games as a dman.....in the nhl... nylander is a bust I honestly feel awful for the hawks

a high skill level you can't teach but has not been able to translate it to the pros yet. he's still young even though he's been in the A for a while. kind of a tweener where he was physically mature enough to dominate juniors and the WJC but hasn't been able to be a consistent scorer in the A and is injury prone. the knock is he's too passive and doesn't play on the boards and in the corners. i think his skill set will fit well with your team given you're willing to take a punch to give a punch and rely on high end skill to outscore your opponents.

Nylander sample size is too small to determine if he is a bust or not..... he has had an issue with being healthy the last couple of years..... this has kept him from being able to gain traction and confidence with his game.

The Sabres (specifically Tim Murray) screwed the pooch with this kid. That is what he was a 'kid' when the Sabres drafted him and did not send him back to juniors for him to develop instead they lost a critical year that first year with the organization. He has a skill set I just have no idea if it will translate to the NHL.

I personally would not deem him a bust instead I think you give him a shot to see if he has matured and developed physically to play in the NHL.

Neutral fan here, I think the trade DEFF favors the Sabers here.

That being said, Nylander is by no means a bust. He was misused in Buffalo and should thrive on a third line with the Blackhawks. We all called Strome a bust and now look at him. I think Nylander can be the Top 6 that everyone thought he'd be.

Give him a chance to play with Kane or Cat and watch him fly.

I hope you are right. Bowman has had a good string of luck taking players that did not pan out elsewhere, and turning them into something. i hope it continues, but eventually luck will run out.
