Interesting offer sheet, without better goaltending that could be a lottery pick, but they were one of the hotter team to end the season, so maybe it is time for a kick start to rebuild

Isles say no thanks. Nielsen is making more than Hickey and we have no need for taking that extra cap while giving up a 3rd and our 7th D for Nielsen. Nielsen's contract will look terrible on the last year or 2, and it already looks pretty bad.

Hickey is completely worthless. Nielsen is still a decent player despite being overpaid. But the Isles essentially get Nielsen at 50% by unloading Hickey's cap and both contracts have the same term remaining. The deal favors Isles imo, at least you're getting a useable asset. Wings only moving him because they don't have a roster spot for him in this scenario. Wings could even retain 1M or so on Nielsen in addition to taking Hickey off your hands if that would help

Winnipeg matches. Anything less than 1/1/2/3 isn’t worth giving up a back to back 30 goal scorer who is still only 22 and still getting better.

I'd figure they probably would, but the fact it's Detroit and them not being contenders even with Connor may give Jets some incentive to not match and take a pretty decent chance to pocket a high lottery pick in 2020. Realistically tho can't see Yzerman even considering giving up 1st rd picks at this point in the Wings rebuild.
