I just tossed them on a line and didn't think about left v right. All reports I have seen have Ferland getting a tad bit more on a shorter contract. I placed him at 5 thinking he'd take a bit less for longer term.

ferland should get no more than 3.5 aav. 5 is a serious overpayment. if you do 1 year at 5m ide be okay but not 5x5. thats a bad contract.

Well half the ones that do are just idiots that think he sucks.

But most of the ones on this site do it because they are going to have hard time signing him next year cap wise. This post is one of those i’m sure.

If you think this year's cap crunch is bad wait until next year when you have to figure out how to sign Krug for $8M/yr and Debrusk. I like Krug don;t get me wrong but damn it's going to be hard to give him what he is going to deserve.

As far as Ferland goes I've seen reports of 3yr/6M out there as the expected value of his contract. He's a very solid player and would be a good addition. If they could get him for less it only makes things better for the B's.

Yup, going to lose Coyle and Wagner in all likelihood too. Sucks.

Coyle, Wagner, Nordstrom, Halak, Chara, Miller. Next year is going to be brutal. They are only going to have about $13M + cap increase to spend putting a big chunk of the team back together. The kids in the minors are going to be having to step up. Defensively I think we should be ok. Vaak and Lauzon are ready to go. But they are going to be piecing together the bottom 6 forwards.

Yup, choices will have to be made. Chara will likely retire, Halak will be replaced, Nordy will be let go to UFA. Miller still likely to be traded this year. It’s Krug, Coyle, Wagner i’m worried about.

I really don't think Detroit gives up Mantha and 3rd for Krug. You'd have a better chance if it were Mantha for Krug straight up. When Cheveldayoff and Yzerman were talking about Trouba Yzerman said Larkin, AA, Mantha and Hronek were off limits. Detroit has been interested in Trouba for a while and being he 2yrs younger than Krug. So if he wouldn't give up Mantha for Trouba he most likely won't give him up for Krug.

imo krech should be traded next summer to relieve some cap space (have tons of C in the pipeline), but ya i dont see krug coming back unless he takes a pay cut. If he leaves, i have tons of faith in gryz

I don’t think he needs to take a pay cut but he’s definitely not getting much of a raise if he stays here.
