Well Marner doesnt deserve much more, would possibly get 3yr deal at around 8 or 6yr deal around 9-9.5, but the thing is that.. Id rather not keep Barrie and be able to re-sign Andersen the year after and Morgan Rielly the year after Andersen and someone half cheaper like Hamonic who is defensive Dman and have Dermott-Liljegren as 2nd pairing and Sandin with cheap veteran (possibly Chris Tanev would be cheap for 1yr prove me deal? IDK..)

First issue is corey crawford, he is probably done after this year with all the concussion history he has had. Second, is marners contract you think hes closer to 9 or 10. Third barrie has public stated he wants 8+ which is likely why the avs moved him to begin with.

Let's not go Barrie crazy....Despite his point production on PP, is it really worth it to the Leafs to outbid other teams for his services. Do you really want sign him to age 36?

Re Crawford. I just glanced at the list of UFAs who seemed to be at the point in their career where they may take a 1 mil back up role. Didn't realize his concussions were so bad. There are other similar guys for that role.

I think Marner is worth 8.5 for 5 years. I don't think he's worth more than Aho. I think 9 for 6 is fair.

Everyone expected all the RFAs to get huge money this summer but it hasn't happened. Only signings of big name RFAs are Aho on an offersheet at 8.5 and Meir for a lot less than was predicted 6x4 (when there was talk of 7.5*7).

None of Werenski, Provorov, McAvoy, Marner, Point, Rantanen, Tkachuk, Laine, or Connor are signed (I probably forgot someone).

I suspect they're all getting less than was initially expected hence the quiet

Bull. He doesn't have to accept anything, he could easily have taken an offer sheet. The market everyone expected was hypothetical and isn't panning out.

This market of RFA wingers getting 10+ million literally does not exist. The largest in this CBA is still tarasenko at 7.5

So then explain labanc taking a 1 year 1m deal? meier is probably about where he should have been at 6m but if he was on a team with more space he likely gets 7-7.5

Labanc is stupid? But seriously he elected to gamble on himself to get a big payday next year.

Also if you want to make there is no room to pay Meir more than you make the same argument for Marner.

He can be resigned and so can be Muzzin, only thing is you will need pull LaBanc bridge 2 x 2M on Dermott ( and try to sign Marner 5 x 9M or 3 x 8M ) :

You underpaid both Dermott and Muzzin. That isn't an answer.

Also the labanc move only works if one year. See Johnsson this year.
