What we've got here is failure to communicate.
This not a bad package, but it is the wrong package. I really liked the idea of getting Perreault before July 1st but not any more.
Buffalo has no need for another LW who scores 15 goals, we have Sheary, Vesey, Johansson and of course Skinner, so unless the plan is to roll 5 lines where do we put Perreault?
I know we in Buffalo tend to over value Rodrigues, but I think he could be added to our 15 goal winger list this year and end up with over 40 pts (about what we would get from Perreault). So Mathieu is not a huge upgrade over Evan but at double the salary and six years older it is a bad deal.
Buffalo needs centers and right handed right wingers, so let's take both Perreault and Rodrigues out of the trade. BTW did I mention Evan is 6 years younger than Mathieu
That leaves Ristolainen, Rasmus for Roslovic, Jack, Harkins, Jansen, and 2020 3rd round pick (WPG)
I guess I am deeply prejudiced on the idea of getting Roslovic in any trade, I feel if DATM had not tried to jump start the rebuild he would be a Sabre now. Putting that aside, I love RHC, that is Jack. While he is a year older than my favorite whipping boy Nylander, and he has performed better than Alex but not enough to move the needle for Ristolainen.
That leaves us Harkins and third. I actually do not see Harkins ever being in the NHL. He is 22 yo and his best AHL season is only slightly better than Rodrigues' best NHL season. Jansen seems to be about the same value as Nylander and I am so happy we were able to get anything for him. So we are left with a third, "C" prospect and a RHC who after 2 seasons has yet to score 10 goals. Did I mention Ristolainen has more pts in any of his last 4 seasons than Jack has in his entire NHL career.
While Roslovic has a decent upside, he does not move the needle for Ristolainen.
Finally, let me add, Buffalo does not need to trade any defensemen. They are under the cap and what is wrong with being 8 deep with NHL quality defensemen?
So unless the offer is over the top great, I do not see Betterall pulling the trigger for Perreault, Roslovic, Harkins and a 3rd.
As a post script, my son and I laugh at the articles Chad DeDominicis writes. We think he lives in his mother's basement, has never watched a hockey game, and claims to be an expert in everything. Take this article you sited, Perreault has no place on the Buffalo roster, In addition to the 4 LW I mentioned we have Girgensons as a solid shut down winger, Olofsson who is less than a year away and Ruotsalainen who has to stay in the NHL or he goes back to Finland. Why does Chad not know that?

Yes... A 24 year old defenseman... Who was literally last in the NHL in goal differential 5 V 5 is going to get you a 22 year old play driving forward who has already had two 60 point seasons.
Seems likely.
Best bet would be Risto, Tage Thompson and a pick... 2nd or 3rd.... That might get you there.
Yes 24 YO defensemen who has not yet learned to play defense well playing too many minutes on a very bad team. I am too tired to list them all but you can check me on this Letang, Chara, Burns and others all had a huge turn around just about Ristolainen's age. IMO it would have to be a huge offer for Betterall to trade him now.

Strange, almost the exact trade I proposed in my forum. Maybe I know something about trade evaluation. Perrault is not needed nor wanted.
No Perreault is not needed by the Sabres, he could have fit in before July 1st, but now we have added Vesey and Johansson, where does he play?

Mid to bottom-6 player. Depends on the team where he plays in. Imo he's as good as Perreault is, but since BUF sucks so bad, his numbers decrease.
I agree, with better center, minutes and winger he could break 40 pts this year.
