Rejected. We trade erod, who is a younger version of Perreault at a fraction of the cost?

Not very high on Risto but honestly that offer sucks... Perreault's overpaid with no actual value, Harkins is a big question mark... the only actually valuable asset here is Roslovic, and he's not even close enough valuable to bring you both Risto and Rodrigues.

How high are you on Evan Rodrigues? Because where I'm sitting, he's a 25 year old with a career season of 29 points... Roslovic would be a huge addition to the Sabres... Mathieu Perreault is a better player than Rodrigues... And Jansen Harkins is prospect who projects to be a similar style player to Evan Rodrigues.

Perreault has had 7 seasons better than Rodrigues' career season .. so that argument doesn't hold water.

Jansen Harkins, for those who don't know, is a prospect who projects to be a Rodrigues type player.

So, I guess if you want to over value Rodrigues it's a bad deal... But in reality, it's not.

Ok. And he has been trending downward. At this point he is a 30 point player making 4.5 million. No thanks. I'd much rather have rodrigues at this point in their careers, and I'm not a big rodigues fan.

We do not need to trade ristolainen.

Bogosian and pilut start on the IR. Henri can start in the AHL, and they can waive hunwick.

Absolutely no need to move him.

I'd take a read at this article... It outlines exactly why Perreault would be a solid addition to the Buffalo Sabres

https://www.diebytheblade.com/2019/7/10/20689227/buffalo-sabres-and-winnipeg-jets-appear-to-be-ideal-trade-partners-rasmus-ristolainen-nikolaj-ehlers

Because, let's be serious... Ristolainen is not going to get you Nik Ehlers.

Not saying he would.... But he + Roslovic absolutely would.

I'd say the Jets would want to replace the loss of those bottom 6 players... So a B+ prospect and a 3rd round pick for Rodrigues makes for a decent trade.

Gross return for ERod. His point line is in no way indicative of how good a player he is. 200ft speedy player who can slot in at all positions and not look out of place on the top-6? Yeah no unless something ridiculous comes our way he is not leaving. Context around his point total is important too, he played most of the season with ****ing Vladimir Sobotka and Tage Thompson, who had ridiculously bad seasons. I'd 100% much rather trade Sheary.

The thing is, we don't NEED Perreault. We're overloaded on forwards as-is, especially third liners who put up 30-35 points. If we take him, it's only for trying to get a better deal.

Neither is Perreault's point line. As you can see from the article that I already once posted (A piece written by a Sabres writer)... Mathieu Perreault would be an instant improvement for the Sabres. He's a better player than Rodrigues, Harkins projects to be as good a player as Rodrigues. Plus a 3rd round pick... Seems like a very good return for an undrafted bottom 6 player.

I read that article. Sure, Perreault is a bit better now, but ERod is gonna be good for another 6-8 years, and we also have prospects who should be at his level in the pipeline. Who cares where he was drafted or not? He's a great player for us now and we're clearly quite far away in evaluations.

My point is that Perreault is the better player today... In 2 seasons his contract is up... Plus you have players like Rasmus Asplund, etc who will be more than capable of filling the hole of Rodrigues.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that, it's crazy to not accept a trade that makes you a better team, just because you like the lesser player.

At the end of the day, the valuation of this deal is good for both sides.

Definitely not. A 24 year old 50 point rhd dman is much more likely to get ehlers than that nonsense you proposed.

Yes... A 24 year old defenseman... Who was literally last in the NHL in goal differential 5 V 5 is going to get you a 22 year old play driving forward who has already had two 60 point seasons.

Seems likely.

Best bet would be Risto, Tage Thompson and a pick... 2nd or 3rd.... That might get you there.

Strange, almost the exact trade I proposed in my forum. Maybe I know something about trade evaluation. Perrault is not needed nor wanted.

Mid to bottom-6 player. Depends on the team where he plays in. Imo he's as good as Perreault is, but since BUF sucks so bad, his numbers decrease.

What we've got here is failure to communicate.
This not a bad package, but it is the wrong package. I really liked the idea of getting Perreault before July 1st but not any more.
Buffalo has no need for another LW who scores 15 goals, we have Sheary, Vesey, Johansson and of course Skinner, so unless the plan is to roll 5 lines where do we put Perreault?
I know we in Buffalo tend to over value Rodrigues, but I think he could be added to our 15 goal winger list this year and end up with over 40 pts (about what we would get from Perreault). So Mathieu is not a huge upgrade over Evan but at double the salary and six years older it is a bad deal.
Buffalo needs centers and right handed right wingers, so let's take both Perreault and Rodrigues out of the trade. BTW did I mention Evan is 6 years younger than Mathieu
That leaves Ristolainen, Rasmus for Roslovic, Jack, Harkins, Jansen, and 2020 3rd round pick (WPG)
I guess I am deeply prejudiced on the idea of getting Roslovic in any trade, I feel if DATM had not tried to jump start the rebuild he would be a Sabre now. Putting that aside, I love RHC, that is Jack. While he is a year older than my favorite whipping boy Nylander, and he has performed better than Alex but not enough to move the needle for Ristolainen.
That leaves us Harkins and third. I actually do not see Harkins ever being in the NHL. He is 22 yo and his best AHL season is only slightly better than Rodrigues' best NHL season. Jansen seems to be about the same value as Nylander and I am so happy we were able to get anything for him. So we are left with a third, "C" prospect and a RHC who after 2 seasons has yet to score 10 goals. Did I mention Ristolainen has more pts in any of his last 4 seasons than Jack has in his entire NHL career.
While Roslovic has a decent upside, he does not move the needle for Ristolainen.
Finally, let me add, Buffalo does not need to trade any defensemen. They are under the cap and what is wrong with being 8 deep with NHL quality defensemen?
So unless the offer is over the top great, I do not see Betterall pulling the trigger for Perreault, Roslovic, Harkins and a 3rd.
As a post script, my son and I laugh at the articles Chad DeDominicis writes. We think he lives in his mother's basement, has never watched a hockey game, and claims to be an expert in everything. Take this article you sited, Perreault has no place on the Buffalo roster, In addition to the 4 LW I mentioned we have Girgensons as a solid shut down winger, Olofsson who is less than a year away and Ruotsalainen who has to stay in the NHL or he goes back to Finland. Why does Chad not know that?

Yes 24 YO defensemen who has not yet learned to play defense well playing too many minutes on a very bad team. I am too tired to list them all but you can check me on this Letang, Chara, Burns and others all had a huge turn around just about Ristolainen's age. IMO it would have to be a huge offer for Betterall to trade him now.

No Perreault is not needed by the Sabres, he could have fit in before July 1st, but now we have added Vesey and Johansson, where does he play?

I agree, with better center, minutes and winger he could break 40 pts this year.
