Simon is cheap and an incredible possession player than can play on the 1st line down the the 4th, so I would prefer to ZAR or Rust I think. Kinda tricky with both VGK and PIT as trade partners as they are both cap strapped but it's an interesting offer. Hornqvist might fit well with Carolina, I just don't know what they would be offering to return at full salary. OTT would be nuts to not accept that JJ trade I think just for Almeida alone, but as there are with all prospects, there are still question marks.

The only way Carolina thinks about this now is if Williams actually retires and Pens absorb some salary. In addition, ita only be for picks or prospect. Fleury will be a key roster player this year with DeHaan moving out.

I like the ‘not working out in Carolina’ comment. Not true, he’s been buried in the depth chart until now. He won a Calder Cup in Charlotte.

Probably a bit of an overpay for Gusev, but at least it's a 2021 1st, not a 2020, but I'm okish ig with it, I'd prefer to give up conditional picks instead in case he becomes the next Shipachyov, I think we can get more back for desmith than trading up from a 5th to a 4th, and getting an AHLer back, probably take out the 5th, bc Kinkaid went for a 5th, and Desmith>>>Kinkaid, I'd hate to give up Almari and Almeida, but if we have to to get rid of JJ, ig I'll take it lol, that's a lot back for Hornqvist, I'd be really happy if we could just get Fleury, and what's the point of bringing in Dano, he was in the AHL for most of last year, I'd rather just call up Adam Johnson

You're right he has been buried on the depth chart. The "not working out" comment is the fact that he is a #7 pick who played almost an entire season with the Canes in 2018 and was still buried on the depth chart last year after Hanifin was gone. Is he going to beat out Bean, are the Canes going to shop UFA Dmen at all? I look at Fleury's situation in CAR similar to Maatta's in PIT

The difference is that GMJR handed $24.5M over 6 years to Maatta out of his ELC, Fleury looks to be heading for a modest bridge 1-1.5M for 2-3 years.

As compared to his 2014 Draft class, Fleury has been a bust. Ehlers, Nylander, Pasta, etc etc etc have all out performed him. Same could be said for a lot of players, but agree with this. However, his fit this year could allow him to show his potential finally. He’s not a goal scorer, but he could be a extremely good 5th/6th Defenseman who can eat mins and be used in the PK.

horny has full ntc ... and while i like horny he not worth that much its pretty much a cap dump on our part getting rid of horny i weep for the ott trade losing those 2 to get rid of jj but it must be done..
what about schultz ??? i think we need to move him also no way we can keep him and tang after this year... unless we can lose tangers... we got 3 yrs max before a rebuild starts what then ??

Interesting trade's
You're right that's an overpay for Gussev and I'd be hesitant to pay that much players from the KHL often don't adjust to the NHL, I'd only consider him at a much lower price, Simon should stay in PIT he's a very underrated player and would fit well on Geno's LW with Galchenyuk and Kuhan rotating the wings too,one combination is bound to have chemistry.
Don't like the COL trade Casey had great numbers last year he's a fringe started and Jarry hasn't impressed (yet still loads of potential), sad to say think Jarry gets traded for a 3rd as he won't clear waivers.
JJ to OTT kinda makes sense to me, they're in a rebuild so would welcome prospects or picks and as you point out they need to hit the cap floor.
Like that you addressed JJ needs replacing I like Riikola but he's not NHL ready, I'm sure he'll get some games down the stretch with injuries maybe he'll make the jump but he's not the answer for the 3rd line LD. Haydn Fleury would be a big gamble, the guy I'd like to target would be McCabe, I don't think Hornqvist gets that done. Maybe a three-team trade with OTT again, they take some of his cap hit and we give them some more picks, the big question remains would Horny waive his NTC.
Love the depth signing of Dano didn't realise he was still out there.
