Actually, the trade is based on suggestions by MNBassman, CzechingOut and Bluetomorrow83 (with modifications) found in the comments here: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/232171

Just checking it out again to see if we could still fit Zucker's cap hit in. I had to add Gagner to the deal rather than Manning to make the cap work, but since Gagner is still an NHL player (4th best Oiler last year in P/60*) I asked for Erikson Ek back and threw in an extra pick to get it done.

I have an extra man on the roster because I just couldn't decide who should be sent to the minors.

As an oilers fan i like the idea of getting Zucker I’m not sure if the wild are going to be big on the trade tho Might need to up Wilds return

I think it's fair enough...
Ek for PoolParty=both are a deception so far but maybe little more value from JP
Zucker... emotional fans would say ok for Yakamoto + 2nd... some other would ask Nuge... So basically no one knows is real NHL GM value!
but Minny as Cap room so they should ask more for Zucker as they can keep him if the value is not favorable.

It's hard to say now, because they went out in free agency and brought in 2 RW that they needed. It's probably a good conversation starter though and likely depends on how the organization views Ek long term. If they plan to give him a legitimate shot at being a 2C, they wouldn't move him but if they're going to continue to move him around and play 4C behind Rask, then this would be a good way to get a young RW who could still develop into a good player. Gagner wouldn't fit into their long term plans, but with only a year left on his deal they might be able to flip him at the deadline for a pick.
