Who would you say was better at their peak, Malkin or Tavares?

Is this a real question? Malkin is one of the greatest of all-time, possibly the most underrated player ever since he plays behind Sid. I don't see JT competing for the Hart or winning cups (yet).

I know he's listed as a centre but from what I've read and heard it seems he plays LW much more than he plays C.

Most young Centers coming out of Junior or College tend to play wing their first couple of seasons. He will be the 3 C.

he takes more defensive draws, his FO percentage has gone up significantly in just one year from 42 to 56%. he is primarily a passer but has had a decent shot %. i dont see him playing left wing tbh he will 100% be your 3rd line center.

JT will win the cup no doubt. But Malkin is the more dominant player. What about Malkin and Matthews at their best, who is better?

He actually takes much more OZFO than DZ (roughly 56% OZS), I'm sure Leafs will try and slot him at 3C due to their need but I'm not sure if he fits the bill. Prior to the Barrie/Kerfoot trade, Leafs were looking at a similar deal with CGY for Jankowski and Brodie. Jankowski obviously being a much more established 3rd line C (just over 50% OZS) and almost double the FO Kerfoot has taken over the last 2 years.

Matthews in his prime will be a top 3 centre. Saw he has the 2nd highest projected value over the next 5 years behind McDavid, especially if he can stay healthy. It's close for sure but Matthews is better at 5v5.

Well Matthews might be the best 5v5 player of all time. But who is more individually skilled?

Hes not really a C, hes best suited for the Wing in the top 6 if you really want to get the most out of him

Maple Leaf fans will run him out of town if they set it and forget him as a 3C. He got heavy Ozone starts last year and his strong point is his ability to be neutral zone puck carrier, he really pushes the pace and carries the zone. When it comes to zone starts, especially in the Defensive end, he will struggle. he wont be able to replace Kadris roll as a 3C, They will need to adapt if they think they can just plug and play Kerfoot into Kadris spot
