I love this for the Canadiens but they need more toughness I feel and Armia is tall but big but he doesn't use his body enough and needs to be more physical

The 2.6M seems a bit high but for a 2 year term it seems a bit more fair. He has seen is PPG and GPG rise every season since entering the league. Provided his injury from last season does not affect him moving forward he looks like his ceiling is still a bit higher. The contract also ends the same time the 2 new centers will need new contracts.

Decent signing. Let's see if Armia can continue to improve his game.

Money’s good, term is really good, and doesn’t interfere with the beginning of cap hell in 2021-22. Also good for Armia, who becomes a UFA at 28.

Surprising that he got more than Lehkonen. Lehkonen is younger and produced more points.

I had him down for $2.8M AAV for 4 years. $2.6M per is the discount for hitting UFA status sooner. Would have been nice to have him locked up longer. He's pretty steady, he won't hurt you.

It's not about stats, it's about négociation power. You pay more for Armia because you buy one year of his autonomy. Lehkonen can't have as much because he is younger and still a RFA until the end of his deal.

I would have preferred to see Armia signed for at least 3 years, even if it would have costed +250-300k more : 2.85m / 3 years would have better a better deal. He has shown consistency, has great advanced stats defensively and he plays offensively like someone that can get to 20-25 goals (he had 0,22 goals per game last year)

2.6 Million is too high for a guy who puts up 33 points over 82 games? He was playing 4th line and no PP minutes for most of the season. He's worth that.
