Schultz has become a really puck moving defenseman but he’s not worth Ehlers.

Going to take more than a 3rd to take on the 4 remaining years of Johnson.

Eaves can go to LTIR in Anaheim and save them the cap space.

Justin Schultz CF% w/ JJ: 44.97%
Justin Schultz CF w/out JJ: 46.30%
Difference w/out JJ: +1.33%

Jack Johnson CF w/ Schultz: 44.97%
Jack Johnson CF w/out Schultz: 53.3% (!!)
Difference w/out Schultz: +8.33% (!!!)

I'll let you come up with your own conclusion. However, the data paints a very clear picture.

Having said that, I am not a JJ supporter but I do think people hate his contract more than his actual play. But I also think we shouldn't be enamored with Schultz who is a sheltered defenseman that needs to move on before we pay him stupid money. WPG needs a RHD. PIT needs one more top 6 forward. So why not trade a RHD that struggled but has promise to WPG for a top six forward who struggled and has promise? And don't forget that Simon is in the trade. He's not a throw in, he a good, CHEAP, NHL'er.

Schultz had a rough year no denying that. Part due to deployment and part due to injuries, but he’s still a legit top 4 D if healthy. Obviously if Winnipeg would make that trade I’d be all over it. That’s a steal for pit, but not realistic. I think we should not be trading schultz as our D is already weak enough. Pair him with petterson, Trade Johnson no matter the cost, acquire a speedy bottom pairing D to play with Gubranson and we’ll be okay

Ristolainen idk. Just taking into account his plus/minus numbers... Schultz seems to be better defensively if in numbers grimace I would go after Pesce mb?

Ehlers is good but this team lacks right-hand shot forward now. Gusev could be a very good fit on the PP1.

I don't have a problem trading Schultz, but not to bring in Ristolainen. Anything but that.

If they could find another Pettersson and attach a camp dump to it I'd totally be ok with it.
