Jackets decline. Why are they going to trade the greatest defenseman in hockey history for a player who suffered from mono?

Columbus decline bcuz u literally sent them garbage ceci, liljegren who's been struggling with injuries and performance consistency that has dropped him in the leafs depth chart, sparks who's an average goalie prospect. And a bunch of picks that will be late because leafs would obv win the cup. Definetly not a fair trade.

As a canucks fan, Jones is one of the best RHD in the league, very underrated

Greatest Defenceman in hockey history? His name isn't even on that list get over it, that's an overpayment for Seth Jones when he can be signed via FA in 3 seasons, and yes he will leave Columbus via FA

Seth Jones 1st 7 seasons 228 points
Bobby Orr 1st 7 seasons 613 points

Why is this even a question? Bobby Orr is is behind Gretzky as best player of all time.

if the leafs got jones, they would be favorites to win the cup -plus you get him at a bargain for the next 3 season. He’s is arguably the best two way defenseman in the league. A package for jones (CBJ will never trade him) would look more like nylander, Johnson, Sandin, and a 1st for jones and a 2nd.

Ah, too young to have seen Bobby Orr or Denis Potvin, eh? Or should we just put this down to excusable hyperbole in the context of the post?

You were in such a hurry to shred the preceding comment that you forgot to list playoff wins and Stanley Cups.

Jones is a great Dman but you need to pump the brakes a bit.

I would think Nylander, Berrie, Liligren, Sandin, Bracco and a 1st for Jones, Anderson, a 2nd and two 3rds would be what it would take. What do you think?

Your right, he probably leaves in 3 years. Which is why I dont understand why Columbus fans are so adamant about trading him. De-Bouis (spelling) and Werenski are their building blocks not a 25 year old defenseman who will be 28 to start his new contract. And they only have 2 years to convince him to stay as they can't allow him to enter his walk year without an extension.

Johnson instead of Bracco and maybe they consider it IMO

Jones will likely age well and be effective into his mid 30s like a giordano. He’s a franchise D, he should definitely be in their plans.

I'm not saying he wont be in their plans, I think it will be hard to convince hom to stay if they lose for the next two years.

Right on. And how about a shout-out to Jarmo -- remember the gasp that went through the crowd when he announced that the Blue Jackets' number 3 overall pick was Pierre-Luc Dubois and not Jesse Puljujarvi?

Absolutely, I still remember everyone saying he was crazy for taking Dubois over Puljujarvi! (who's crazy now lol) I thought it was a stroke of geniussmile I think Jarmo is underrated as a gm.

Jarmo is a good gm, I fully believe Pulijuarvi is only a bust cause the Oilers have done a horrific job developing talent, Yakopov would have been great if he wasn't thrown into a top 6 role 2 years early, RNH would be better had he not been expected to be a 1 C, Hall also he came around but till after he left EDM, who ever gets pulj will probably end up with a 30 goal top 6 winger in 2021
